Sri Lanka didn't win a single game against the poms I don't think, they have a lot of talent retired, wouldn't take much out of this series. Winning away though is always a good thing .

True. Sadly, a lot of the best Sri Lankan talent is now on the T20 circuit. Can hardly blame them, to play for Sri Lanka their top players get the equivalent of around $180,000 annually, whereas a Lasith Malinga can earn several million on the various domestic T20 competitions (he earnt over a million for 6 weeks in the IPL alone).

Players like Malinga, Sangakarra, Jayawardene, Dilshan, Samaraweera are all on the T20 circuit and would walk into the Test team if they made themselves available.

Haven't these players served their time for the national team? Without knowing wouldn't they would all be 35+?

That's somewhat true in some cases but guys like Malinga and Dilshan would still have plenty to offer if they couldn't earn way more elsewhere. West Indies have the same problem, whereas the richer countries who pay healthy base contracts to national players tend to hold their players longer.

Had a laugh the other day .. Didn't Australia complain Murali was a chucker? But now have him coaching our bowlers! Little hypocritical I would have thought .

What was Smithy thinking? The Big Show would have been proud with that effort.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Sri Lanka grinding out a decent lead here. Going to be a tough chase

Smith and Nevill's shot selection was disgraceful .
Total arrogance and disrespect of worthy bowlers in their own environment

Hard to think of another Australian captain who'd play a shot like that. Kim Hughes maybe.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Sri Lanka 6/282 in their 2nd dig. Mendis unbeaten on 169. A fair effort considering no other player has scored over 50 in this game.

Rain and bad light has stopped play. enjoying watching a best of Cricket Legends with Thommo, Rodney Hogg and Lenny Pascoe - great viewing. Love hearing their stories.
