Warner failing to bat out the final over of a session is a worrying sign that's right through this side. Smith did that last match as well and our batsman just aren't prepared to block out overs no matter what the position of the match should indicate.

Smith stepping so far to the leg side and had his off stump exposed.

Really poor performances by out batsman

I'd be looking at Bancroft and batsman that place a high value on their wicket.
Khawaja is the one I'd be most concerned about, he needs an innings to shed the flat track bully tag. His iron footwork is a spinner's delight, needs to learn from the way Damien Martyn played- get completely back and play after the spin.

This isnt just a sub continent issue either, England will prepare these pitches

Isn't the ashes in Australia this time round ?
Ps note Voges woeful shot in the second innings to get out .. Reverse sweep to a ball that's to close to his body .. Gets bowled .. Why would you be trying to reverse sweep that when it's about staying in and grinding out runs ??

        Because 'straya mate!

The Australian Test Team have about as much respect for their wickets as we do for the football forward of centre.
        TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I'm old fashioned but the amount of players getting bowled playing stupid shots to balls on the stumps is beyond me.
Pretty basic stuff if its on the stumps defend with a game situation like this .
Have a go at one not on the stumps if you must.

We really need to be prepared to make some hard decisions on players. Khawaja and Burns must be high on the list although they are nearly all suspect against decent spin bowlers.

It's pretty simple. If a batsman can't bat on this type of pitch in these sort of weather conditions then we are pretty silly picking them to play. Pick batsmen suited to the type of pitch and bowlers they face.

We didnt pick four fast bowlers in this test because it would have been a stupid thing to do. Why did we pick a batting line up like that? We played two spinners because it was a spinners pitch. But we pick batsmen who play the ball on its length but can't judge the line. That's insane.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There's nothing new to any of this, nor really any surprises. We are just flat track bullies. Nothing more, nothing less.

Tough to do when Khawaja has averaged close to 100 since coming back and Burns' average has hovered around 47

Batting fails so we drop two batsman for a batsman and an all-rounder? Okey dokey

Nice job to turn 5-26 into 5-194... Game over.

5-214 at stumps day one, definitely game over

7/346 after being 5/26 .. The captain leading the way for Australia with two dropped catches , both lollipops seriously must take it out of you watching your captain do that.

Starcy takes another 5, he's the one brilliant thing to come out of this tour. This is the first time he's really transformed his one day form into test cricket and dominated. He's got 22 wickets @ 13 apiece from 5 innings bowled
