    Chris Rogers

Failed to come to terms with WA and they have reported that he is Victoria bound (unconfirmed by the Vics though)

Good or bad for the Vics?
Good or bad for his chances of ever playing for Australia again?

Chances would be enhanced if he went to NSW!

Victoria need a decent opener, seems they have struggled this season to see off the new ball.

Vics need 2 or 3 decent batsman and have so for the past 5 years.

Bad for his chances of playing for Australia. If you play for Victoria you have be as good as Shane Warne to even be considered for a regular spot.

He was on the radio over here tonight. Perhaps a few less me's and a few more we's would serve him well in the future.

Good luck to Mr Rogers, but if the Bushies think they are getting someone determined to help Victorian cricket and build a side...well, than isn't exactly what he is after.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Not quite that many..... 1 or 2 would be handy.

They also need some fast bowlers who can play more than 2 games in a row.

The combination of Jewell and Rogers followed by Hodge, Hussey and White would be at least the equal of any top order.

I'm not sure if it is a done deal as the WA cricket guys believe but yes that would be a strong line-up.

I'm not sold on McDonald at 6 though. Hopefully injury free he can have a good one in 2008/09

Its the old argument of whether you go 6 batsmen or 5 and an all-rounder. I think he's a pretty useful player given his two strings to the bow.

Wade is the great white hope as his batting is a big bonus and he can act as a buffer for Mc Donald.

McDonald is a handy bowler and decent batsman but with White in the side do we need the extra bowler? The Vics had a terrible run with fast bowlers being injured or underdone and when McDonald was fit enough to bowl he got a bit of work. Would he get as much work if the bowlers were actually fit?

I'm all for playing him providing we aren't just ignoring a clearly better batsman. Of course if they rate him the equal of the likes of Quiney or Finch then his bowling should bet him selected.
                    Good limited over cricket though.

Problem is, White does so little bowling. Also, the leggies (White and Mc Gain) are of little value for the first two days.

I'd argue that he does little bowling because he is throwing the ball to McDonald first. White essentially becomes the 6th bowler. Good spinners still add value in from day one. On day one and two White's job is to tie up and end before the new ball or late in a session and bowl a few tidy overs.
On days three and four it's to get the occasional wicket and support McGain.
McDonald gets a lot of over because the pace bowlers can't bowl as much as their counterparts from other states.

I think he bowled something like 15 overs on the first day but I think that was because the Vic pace bowlers struggled with their fitness

He may have been waiting for the sine to come off the ball and get some reverse as well. But MCD did get a few quality deliveries going in that spell.
