According to one of the news reports I heard he's not injured and Goorj just went for Delly over him. I would have preferred DJ being picked before Delly.
Ingles is in poor form and doesn't appear to be able to adapt to the quicker speed the team has been playing with. While I hope he finds a way to perform because he has been possibly our best player he really should not have been selected. Thybulle is a better player and his defensive skills could have been handy.
Kay is just a bit lucky as well and perhaps being a bit taller than Cooks worked in his favor. That was a line ball decision though.

He was injured last night tbough and his durability is questionable so that's my thinking.

Ingles and Mills are having their swan song. Both are not up to standard. Mills was awful last night in short minutes and wasn't much better in Game 1.

Kay gets a rough run from supporters. I've been lucky enough to see quite a few Boomers games in person and he's just work horse. Lots of unnoticed small things which make the team work so much better. No way I'd be taking Cooks over him.

Delly is a great story out of this, his energy is infectious and is a world class defender. Worked his arse off to get this spot and got it.

I don't mind Kay at all, he did well in Japan and is an underappreciated player. It was a line ball decision with Cooks and I'm hoping his extra size works for us.

Being good blokes and their past services shouldn't play a big part of National team selection if there are clearly better performed players and players who can perform better at the International level. Ingles is more likely to be no more than a small role player for us and we shouldn't have selected him, same with Delly but Mills 'might' able to get on the floor and help his team mates.

Can anyone explain to me why Goulding wasn't selected?
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

            from ESPN

Goulding was 8-of-13 from beyond the arc in the Boomers' two exhibition games against China. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to lift him onto the final team.

Shooting was an issue for the Boomers at the World Cup - Goulding was on that team, but didn't get meaningful minutes - and that burden will now be shifted to a newcomer in Jack McVeigh. The reigning NBL Championship Series MVP was the standout in camp, hitting shots all over the floor, and sent a message in Tuesday's game, where he dropped 24 points - including six three-pointers - in 13 minutes. As a spot-up option who's perhaps more effective as a defender because of his size, McVeigh became the preference.]

I'm not a Goulding fan but for a 11th or 12th player on the roster those 3 as he can drop could have been handy in games.

Yeah - player 12. Need buckets - give him 3-minutes and see if he's got "IT". If he has, feed him the ball...

He's a break-glass type player but he has a unique skillset.

It's one of the reasons why I would have liked DJ Vasiljevic who can both put the ball on the floor as a PG and add some important 3's which is what I think this team lacks.

Not quite good enough IMO, he was the one certainty I knew would not make it.

I'm extremely biased but I believe CG43 should have been on this team in the 11th or 12th spot as mentioned.

So we've been drawn in a group with Spain, Greece and Canada.

                      That's pretty brutal.

Yeah, we're done. If we qualify from this pool then we'd be a favourite for a medal.

Geez an elite level defender would be perfect for that pool. Just a shame one isn't available.

Promising warm up results the past 2 nights - a 92-98 loss to the USA and a 84-73 win over Serbia.

A good game from Patty Mills, after struggling against China and the US he had 28 points and rediscovered his shot v the Serbs.

Massive win to start off our campaign. Some of the questions raised with selections have been answered in thise pre Olympic games and this one.
