I sit and watch every BBL game with my son. We watch a bit of test cricket and ODIs are on as background noise sometimes but BBL games are the perfect bite sized amount to just sit and watch for us. End of the day, a cricket match that's decided inside three hours with a plethora of opportunities for me to tell him what my old cricket coaches would have said if I had played a cross bat shot like that or not kept my head still or whatever.
I am absolutely sure Nevill hit the wicket just before the ball reached him. I always thought the benefit of any doubt went to the batsman, but it certainly did not on that occasion.

As a Tasmanian watching, my reaction was cheating ****** Victorians when that was given out. Very pleased that the next ball was called wide and eased my frustration and then to see Pereira blow it made it worthwhile for me.

Brilliant performance from McDermott and great contribution from Bailey in batting with him and ensuring he kept turning over the strike for him.

If the pitiful crowd at the Gabba right now is any indication, the 50 over form is in trouble. But then again Test cricket suffers from awful crowds around the world. T20 funds the entire game these days, of that there is no doubt.

He must have known he had hit them too.

T-20 cricket seems to have reversed the onus of the benefit of the doubt too. The batsman doesn't get it at all in 20/20 cricket. That had become very apparant even before last night. It might just be the BBL, it is an opinion formed from a limited sample.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

One thing ODI's provide is a genuine contest between bat and ball, which we're seeing right now with some excellent bowling.

It's weird though that there is a wider variety of bowling styles in T20 than in the other forms of cricket. Without a real imperative to actually take wickets and more of a premium on keeping runs down then pretty much anyone who can get the ball down the other end of the pitch without getting smacked out of the ground can become a star at 20/20 cricket.

Anyone watch the game tonight? Neville got smacked in the head with a flying bat in the 18th over and was off concussed. The bat slipped from the batsman's hand and Neville was watching the ball and didn't see the bat flying through the air.

Good win for Renegades in front of 43k at Adelaide oval

I thought he was suffering from the soft cock until I saw his cheek bone/upper jaw swollen, and seemingly he's been concussed in the tournament twice within a week.

As a reference the behind the wicket shot doesn't really show how much pace needed to be on the bat for it to reach the keeper standing on medium paced bowling distance, but the side angle does and the bat hit his jaw right on the nub of the handle.

I don't know what Peter Nevill did to displease the cricket gods but man!

Yeah....kind of summed up his summer of cricket unfortunately.

Nevill has been ruled out for the rest of the BBL, but fortunately nothing is broken, just a burst blood vessel so shouldn't be out for an extended period.

Great last over tonight with Renegades winning by 1 run.

Remington bowled 4 wides in the last over and nearly cost the game . Brisbane with 9 down, needed 3 to win off the last ball, and Remington bowled a wide, however the Brisbane players ran and there was a runout giving the game to Ren.

One of the Brisbane players ran that's how they both ended up at the same end. That's one of the more bizarre finishes to a game that I've seen.

                                Sadly, not to be.

The Sixers rolling the Stars at the MCG means the 'Gades are out and the Stars miss a home final.
