Gee the first 2 BBL games this year have been entertaining. Stionis and Faulkner were very game tonight in taking the game down to the wire after Heat looked home for all money.

i just felt that Stars were a bit behind the 8 ball with their batting with a few dot balls about halfway through their innings. They fell just a little off the pace and then the Heat didn't let them back in.

It was only a four or two if they had of needed 10-12 runs of tge last 3 balls instead of 18 it might have been a bit different.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It is very intense cricket. Stoinis and Faulkner just got worn down in the end as they had been under so much pressure and had down an enormous amount of running between the wickets.

They were basically too stuffed to swing the bat in the last 2 overs.

Two games in and I think the organisers would be very happy with the quality of the games. It's still not something I enjoy but it appeals to so many.

How has everyone found it so far?

My issue with the format is that the spectacle is more important than the result.

Despite a terrific partnership by Stoinis and Faulkner, they still lost and seemed very content.

I want my sport to have a result that everyone cares about.

Test cricket is king but the Big Bash is second over 50/50 cricket by a long way I reckon.

I probably won't remember what happens in BBL in the long term like things in test matches etch into my psyche but I enjoy watching it at the time.

The first match was an absolute beauty. Haven't actually seen last night's game.

Sean Abbott had bowled superbly up until that last over. Got his line completely wrong. Not helped by Doug Bollinger's fielding.

At the end of the day, sport is a form of entertainment for the masses. If we weren't entertained we wouldn't watch. Just ask General Maximus.

It wasn't all that long ago that David Warner was a T20 sideshow. Now he's a test opener. Whilst its not an ideal talent pathway its a talent pathway nonetheless.

I tend to agree, I have gone right off 50/50 as it became too clinical. Ok, T20 can be clinical as well but it is a short form of the game and bang the next team is on.

I have picked Stars as my team over the first few years of the comp, but in the end I don't have the passion like I do the Bulldogs and really if the Stars lose (like last night), I don't sulk and kick the cat and take days to get over it.

                  To me pure entertainment.

Exactly. Something to veg in front of when it's too hot (or cold) to go outside. It comes at the perfect time as well. I've binge watched all the series I want to see and now I'm just waiting for mid January for new series. The Big Bash is perfect because I don't want any more TV series right now.

I went for the Stars the first few seasons because Warnie played there but the Renegades had their family day last year at the Merv Hughes oval in Footscray so I jumped aboard. If they want to embrace the west I'm happy to give 'em a big bear hug back.

Yep. I continue to be pleasantly surprised at just how many bulldog supporters there appear to be. Even cricket crowds are full of celebrating bulldog supporters.

Watching the Stars vs Scorchers. The Stars started well and had them 3 for 10 after 3 overs but they bowled both Faulkner and Beer one over too many and now the Scorchers are right back in the game. Hastings as the captain bowled poorly with short and wide deliveries down the leg side. Stoinis also bowled too short.

                          Some dumb cricket.

Classic commentary from Graham Swan just now when Ben Dunk was given out LBW to an off spinner:

It's pitched outside leg stump and was missing off but as an off spinner that's out everyday of the week.

Doesn't Hastings play for Footscray-Edgewater at the district level? That automatically makes him a gun player.

Poor effort tonight from the Stars. Other than Maxwell, the rest failed.
