With the batsman gone, and being at least one batsman light, hopefully all these All Rounders can make all the runs now.

Maxwell is so good at being both great and a complete buffoon all at once.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Well, the All Rounders had 20-40 overs to bat a really decent innings without time pressure and the three made 69 runs combined (60 to Maxwell). While Khawaja in form is cutting up oranges and Bailey is playing really well in the hit and giggle. It's just inane selection series after series, two all rounders in a team need to be guns and three is just way too many. But if the selectors don't care I guess neither should I.

Well done to Wade on his maiden ODI century. A great effort coming in at number 7 with the score 5-78.

          Vics to the rescue:
          Victoria 160
          Extras 11
          Rest of Australia 97

It was unorthodox, but that was a great ton by Wade.

Pakistan all class as well, every fielder fit over to him as they were walking off.

A nice touch by Wade kissing his bat's '401' sticker and waving it to the heavens too.

Has he made a ton at any level since Hughes' passing?

Wade's got a tattoo of Phil Hughes on his forearm.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Not internationally from memory, maybe Lem might know. I still find it warming that with all the adrenalin and excitement, some of the players always have Phil front of mind.

Despite the collapse in out batting effort I still think we had the mix about right. The fact that we lost Stanlake bowling after just 3 overs and still haven't needed to use Maxwell I think supports having 4 genuine bowlers and a a couple of all rounders.

Still can't agree, even more so after today. The three All Rounders have scored 111 runs (in 6 combined innings), 83 of them to Maxwell alone. We've been a batsman light and paid the price two games running. If of the top 5 (not Khawaja) Head, Maxwell, Warner & Smith can bowl, Wade keeps/bats and 4 specialist bowlers can rack up 40 overs (and bat a bit) why use the 11th spot on another all rounder? We've got the bowling overs covered, the keeper/batsman, an all rounder and only 4 batsmen. Pick either Faulker or Marsh (not my preference) as a bowler if they want two all rounders, drop the other and bring in a specialist batsman.

I'm in favour of having one more batsman at the expense of an all rounder but I can't see the logic in why we should push a batsman like Wade from 7 to 8. I wouldn't have played Maxwell and had Lynn in at 4. We are batting Marsh two positions above where he should be played.

With today even having an extra batsman wouldn't have helped. The execution was poor.

Lynn was injured for today, so why not call up Bailey? He's the exact sort of batsman we needed for the two games so far. Wade still bats at 7 in my mind: 5 bats (Warner, Khawaja, Smith, Head, Lynn/Bailey (5), Maxwell as all rounder (6), Wade (7) and four bowlers (11) (selected from Cummins, Starc, Faulkner, Hazlewood, Stanlake, Zampa or Marsh if his bowling is considered a genuine bowler in this format).

Edit: In the last two games Marsh batting is a combined 4 runs. His bowling is a combined 1/59. It seems apparent we can't carry that in an all round capacity. If he's in the best 4 bowlers he plays, but if not, Faulkner & Maxwell have claims to the team before him. Faulkner's averages are better, and he's similar to Maxwell but more of what we already have in a group of seamers who can slog (but have vastly, vastly better bowling averages).

And why play all rounders who bowl spin when the second over of spin is the 46th over on a pitch where spinners killed our batsmen? Surely a specialist batsman is a better option.

Selectors swinging some changes for the squad:

Lynn (home for treatment on his shoulder)
Handscomb (incoming specialist batsman, well *!*!*!*! me)
Marsh (apparently injured, so he's out)
Zampa (since he's not being selected and Smith won't use spinners, he's back to hit and giggle)
                              Starc (rested)
