    Australian Summer of Tennis (2025)

Couldn't spot a thread for this yet. Many Tennis fans about?

Emerson Jones (16 y.o number 1 ranked junior) looked fantastic today beating a top 50 ranked player easily to record her first main tour win. Hopefully she gets a favourable draw in the Aus Open and can win a round. Bright much needed future for Australian women's tennis.

Some interesting AO qualifying matches today, featuring Cruz Hewitt and Tomic.

Would love to get some predictions - Alcaraz and Sabalenka are my picks for the Open. Jack Draper a dark horse.

Hard to go past your predictions although Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek have to be right on the mix.

How many Australian's can get past the first couple of rounds is always the big question.

I lost some passion for Tennis about 10 years ago and it's been a struggle since.
Perhaps if we had seen the best from the likes of Kyrgios, Kokkinakis and maybe Tomic along with de Minaur and Popyrin I might have been more interested.
It's National Pride thing for me and there isn't a lot at the moment to get excited about.

There would be a lot of tennis fans but it's good to see a new member taking some initiative and starting a new thread.
I'm a huge fan of De Minaur because he it gives it his all. He's probably the only reason at the moment why I keep watching Tennis.

Fair enough to feel this way.

The mens side we have had 8-10 players in the top 100 recently which is a terrific effort. Just a shame atleast one hasn't been able to really challenge for Grand Slams.

Di Minaur has improved, more than I thought he would. But he still seems a fair way off actually challenging to win a slam.

Womens tennis has been really disappointing for a long time now. I have high hopes for the next crop though. Particularly Jones and Joint.

Alex is now ranked 8th in the world. I feel he just can't get to the next step ie into the top 4. Hope he does well this year.

Over the last 10 to 15 years it's become a bit of a power game. He is very consistent but not a real threat against many of the top 10.

The draw has been released today - Australian Open Tennis Draws | AO

Alex de Minaur draw at first glance looks ok. Should get through to the fourth round without much trouble.

Ben Shelton I think is a bit of a dark horse.

Coco Guaff will take the title in the womens side of things.

I am pretty excited by the promise of Emerson Jones. Even her 2nd round loss in Adelaide against a top 10 player looks to have been full of merit off the match stats.

Maya Joint also showing promise and I think one of the 2 will be the top ranked Australian on the WTA through 2025.

Absolutely! It's exciting to have two talented girls coming through.

Bit of a shame they have copped Pegula and Rybakina first round respectively. But will be a great experience for them none the less.

Jones was great last night. Her serve will be her big issue as she gets into the main tour. Get no free/easy points from it at the moment.

                        Thanks

I am hoping I at least get to see some part of their games.

Certainly no favours with the draw.

Good to see Kokkinakis win his first round match.

Kyrgios struggling in his match, a set down and down 4-2 in second set

Him and Kokkinakis wonder why they are constantly injured, they just don't have the same discipline and desire to put in the work.

Krygios thinking he can just stroll back in after 2 years out of the game and win is laughable.

Demon looked really good tonight. Was a tricky first round opponent and he got through easily.
