CA basically told Channel 9 & 10 ah sorry you haven't met the criteria - so we are rejecting your offer. Even though they clearly had.

It appears CA already had a pre-determined outcome before the process began - which in the end cost them $5 million dollars and a whole, whole heap of good will. Cause CA has a whole heap of good will to lose...

Lashings of good will. They have goodwill leaking from every oriface on their bodies. The problem can be keeping all the goodwill seeping out.

Clearly Sutherland has a bonus tied to the tv rights $ figure and not the betterment of the game.

Would love Lingy on the cricket coverage...stating the obvious like he normally does.
“Yes Hame, he missed the ball there, and it crashed right into the stumps - so that is out, he’ll be heading back to the sheds now”.

"And then somebody else, a cricketer, a batsman actually, but it's the number 9 batsman so it's really a bowler will come out and bat. You can bet that the fielding side will be trying super hard to get him out. He could be caught or bowled. Run out maybe. Or stumped. He could be out for handling the ball or deliberately obstructing the field even."

Re: Cricket Australia set to sign $1 billion deal with Foxtel and Seven West Media

I've got to say, compared to the blokey bullshit cheer squading that was Ch9, I don't mind the Ch7 commentary so far.

Brayshaw has toned down his BS, and is just tolerable.
Ponting actually really knows what he's on about what is refreshing. A smart commentator who offers good insight. Crazy.
McGrath isn't too bad, and the banter with Ponting isn't overly manufactured so I don't mind a bit of it.
Blewett is a bit similar to Ponting.
Fleming is Fleming. I don't mind in small doses.
Tim Lane is boring, but I don't mind that all together.
Slater has toned everything down a notch, and is also now tolerable.
Mel is a good, experienced host.
Alison is a dead set professional.
Copeland might develop into his role.
Chopra is a India cheer leader, but a different perspective and voice is refreshing.

Set a good tone. No constant sidetracking of BS blokey stuff to detract from the sport. I haven't actually seriously contemplated turning the volume off on the TV so far, so maybe that's a sign it's going ok. Mind you, they had a low base to improve off.

McGrath is a flag-humping moron and Slater is beginning to channel Bruce far too much but otherwise the commentary has been a pleasant surprise.

My dream result is for Ch 7 to lose the footy rights when they are next up because they have over-committed their budget on cricket. Then I would like to see every piece of shit on the ch 7 footy commentary team sacked and never to return to television ever again.

That’s not too much to ask, surely.

Agree that they've been pretty good.

Punter has the best cricket brain in the world and is brilliant to listen to. Haven't minded Chopra either, brings the Indian voice but knows a bit about batting.

Tim Lane's the odd man out for me. Talks over a lot of the action and asks questions that don't mean much except to the very new cricket follower. I'd prefer they looked at one of the experienced radio ball-by-ball guys.

I have been watching on Foxtel, so haven't listened to the channel 7 commentary. Allan Border is very boring, even though he knows his shit.

I've actually been surprised by the quality of the Foxtel coverage. I love the lack of ads, and whilst I'm not a great fan of Mark Waugh's commentating, Bhogle, Gilly, Vaughan and Isa Guha have been really good. O'Keefe can be good too, when he's not trying to be a comedian.
And the after play 360 with Whately & Craddock has been quite insightful.
