I get the feeling he saves his best for us.

The commentators last night mentioned that in recent times (not sure of the exact timeframe) the bowlers with the most catches dropped off their bowling were Bumrah, Starc and Rabada (no great surprise as they are among the best fast bowlers in the world), with Joseph not far behind.

Had Konstas dropped twice in his first over before deciding to do it himself and bowl him. Shamar is such a fun cricketer

The Windies fought it out today and somehow got a modest lead.
Australia's batsman top order batters failed to get a partnership going and are now 4 for 73

I might have underestimated the West Indies.

Or ever estimated our batting line-up. Probably the worst top 3 we’ve had in my time.

Our batsman have been poor for a while and without Smith it was always going to be a bit of an adjustment.
Inglis at 4 was always going to be a bit of a risk. Green is probably batting a couple of spots higher than he should and Khawaja isn't the rock he once was.
Konstas doesn't appear to be ready yet

The problem is we don't have many knocking the door down.

I watched the last session - the Windies bowled beautifully, and it's a good attack, but the batting was rubbish.

Konstas is a big concern. He should've been out three times in that five. Shamar had him stuck on the crease, but his only strategy to break out of it was to pre-empt and walk down the wicket. He tried that, was dropped at slip, and then just dropped anchor and tried to wait out the spell.

He's so offside dominant that he's sweating on half volleys as his only means of scoring right now. He doesn't work off his hip, and there's nothing through mid-on or midwicket unless it's ostensibly short. The most underrated shot in a good player's arsenal is the nudge into the legside because it gets them up the other end. Konstas needs to find a way to access the legside - Test bowlers aren't going to let you swish through cover and that's what his game is built on.

I think this is exactly why we're playing him at the moment - give him three Tests and find out if he's the player who should partner Khawaja for the first Ashes Test. It looks like long odds with the way Sam's game is set-up right now.

Green looked tidy and positive before his footwork let him down. Just a really poor shot.

I thought Inglis looked uncomfortable out there and didn't seem to know how to handle sideways movement.

Khawaja looked in nice touch, and that was a pretty line-ball decision.

Head looks like he's still trying to work out the wicket while Beau Webster looks our best bat at the moment.

I am really worried about the Ashes series - we are in trouble.

The batting is a concern but the counter to that we always seem to make runs in home conditions and England's bowlers are average.

The bowlers we have are still performing but our batting is disorganised.

The Windies are a poor fielding and especially catching team. Their bowling was exactly as you described.
Konstas has reigned in the outrageous shot selection but I agree he didn't take advantage his those 2 dropped catches.

Inglis hasn't worked and was hesitant.

Head very unlucky, poor pitch to be doing that early on day 3.

Great batting from Head, Webster and Carey plus handy contributions from the bowlers gave us a very defendable score.
The Windies have collapsed to 8 for 112 and extra time has happened. Hazlewood with 5 for.

Our 4 main bowlers have had a terrific career together. 550 test wickets when playing together and fairly evenly spread out.
Australia has been so successful over their journey and it's largely due to the way the bowlers have applied themselves.

Looks like Smith will be back for the second test at number 4 with Inglis to miss out. Konstas needs to show something if wants to be in Ashes contention, looked all at sea in the second innings.
