    Re: 2018 World Cup

I was really hoping Riley McGree would get a gig in the squad. Bias aside (I taught him and also coached him in a few rep teams) he must have been in the mix. He made a few of Ange's squads for the qulaifiers without being capped and was brilliant for Newcastle and regularly Adelaide's best last season.

Certainly the best junior I have seen and an extremely well rounded player (has pace, skill, vision, endurance, is strong on the ball/in contests, has a bit of Picken like tenacity, and certainly has a bit of x factor). Ripping kid too. I thought that outrageous scorpion goal might just be the thing that got him over the line.

The good news is that he has time. Hopefully he can push into Brugge's first team next season.

We play Hungary early tomorrow morning (1.30) in our last warm up game. For those interested it will be on channel 10 from 1am. Think i'll record it to watch tomorrow.

Urrrgh unfortunately i recorded channel 7 rather than channel 10. Probably just as well. From what i saw of the goal highlights, horrendous mistakes by both sides. Bring on the French.

          Re: 2018 World Cup

It was pretty mediocre for the most part. Hungary sat back a fair bit so we couldn't hit balls over yhe top like against the czechs. A lot of kicking the ball backwards as a result.

Mooy and Luongo struggled to pick out options, Nabbout didn't offer much and Rogic like last game struggled to get the ball. Kruse was as always lively but frustrating, Leckie more physically dangerous than in an attacking sense. Behich and Ryan were both solid, while Sainsbury and particularly Milligam were clumsy at the back and nearly cost us a goal. Risdon also was exposed first half but better second.

Changes were good. Jedinak heloed our midfield balamce out slightly, Irvine however was a big upgrade on Rogic. He actually worked to make space and force an option. Jones was pretty crap in goal. Didnt have to do much but dropped an easy cross and imo was most at fault for the goal. Can't see Ryan seeing the bench at all. Juric barely had a touch, likewise Cahill.

Arzani was great though in what was a huge positive. His shot should've been saved but it was great tonhavr someone willing to ask the question. Otherwise he outsbtge defence on the back foot qith his ability to retain the ball on the run, and his pass to set up Irvine for the own goal was a ripper. I think now he has pkayed hinself into a sub appearance against France around the 60 minute mark, and who knows from there.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

I guess it's good that we played like crap but still managed to get the win.

Is it just me or are there a lot of own goals being scored all of a sudden?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Spain sack their manager 24 hours before their first game because he got the Real Madrid job.

Surely must be more to it than just this. That is crazy stuff by the Spanish Football Board.

Half the team play for RM, the other half for Barcelona.

I can kind of understand it but geez the timing.

Real Madrid really stupid for announcing it now

In the 2014 world cup, all 4 Asian teams finished last in their group, won 0 matches and had a goal differential of -16.

Saudi Arabia losing 5-0 is a terrible start for Asian teams (including us of course). We need an Asian side to do okay this tournament (1 winning a match or even progressing beyond the group stage).
