I have a real problem with this as being a scourge on test cricket. They do it here in England and what you get is a pathetic contest where touring sides are humbled on pitches that are barely good enough for a village side, but cater for the 2 most overrated bowlers in the world - Anderson and Broad. No, prepare a wicket both teams can play on and then see who is better.

Because it's the wrong thing to do. It's worse than ball tampering. It's a blight on the game, it means you not only planned to do it but it's an institutional cancer through the entire relevant Cricket Authority. It's short sighted and does more damage to test cricket than T20 or any other short form of the game.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I agree on the one hand, but until things change world wide then......

They have taken more wickets in 2018 than any other attack in the history of cricket - even more than West Indies

Only Australian selectors would think a player averaging 22 with the bat and 80 with the ball in first-class cricket this summer is the perfect candidate for both 2nd spinner and no 3 in the batting order. Meanwhile proper batsmen like Wade (51 average the last two seasons), Burns (50) and Maxwell (49) and proper spinners like Fawad and Agar are not even considered squad material.

Can we perhaps do something about whoever selects the selectors? Cricket Australia has massive problems that no amount of tinkering away at the edge of the team will mask.

But we are going to be 5/74 at stumps after a bit of a recovery and some elite honesty. You can just sense it. For some reason our tale starts at 3.

Just heard Brad Haddin use the excuse 'we're a young team'...

Paine, Shaun Marsh, Khawaja, Lyon, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, even Handscomb and Head are not young players.

                        But whatever.

Yep, completely agree. It's like talking about a footy 'rebuild' when you aren't actually picking youngsters.

I wrote before the first test that if we were going to win the series, we'd be heavily reliant on Khawaja and S Marsh as the senior heads with other guys chipping in and putting together partnerships. Their inability to grab leadership roles has been really telling.

How about our gun pace bowling trio's inability to get the ball swinging or seaming through the series?
Is it an issue about technique or pitch conditions?

Shame to lose Khawaja so early today. We needed a bit more from him.

Lets hope Labuschagne and Harris can get a good partnership going.

They've barely swung a single delivery since Davy Warner's last visit to Bunnings
