You reckon? I'm far from a fan but he's looked solid, particularly against the spinners. His technique is pretty tight and has played out the dangerous balls reasonably comfortably.
Perhaps I came across as critical of him but that wasn't the intention. I woukd have like to see him get a good score over 50.
Marsh and Head were disappointing dismissals and as I type Paine got it very wrong and lost his wicket.

It starts with the senior guys in the team - looking at you Khawaja, Marsh, Starc. Throwing away wickets or bowling two or three four balls an over. Khawaja's dismissal was the reason he was ommitted from previous tours of the sub-continent, not to the pitch of the ball, stranded in no mans land, throws the bat at it.
Marsh - its time to call time. You can't have a guy in your middle order who you can't rely on to make runs. At his best he is a great bat, but that happens so infrequently that it becomes a liability. The pitch in Sydney is a runs pitch. You get in, you pick you shots you make runs.

Is Greame Hick, as National batting coach, required to bear some responsibility? How long has he been in charge now and from a benchmark perspective which way have the batsmen gone?

In what way? Team selection, player attitudes, techniques or tactics?
Mainly team selection and his feeble excuses on why players were selected (eg: like a M Marsh) and why players were not selected. Plus the order of the batting line up.
This is the worst performance by an Australian team since the early 80s

Everything is broken. Paine is barely test standard yet is Captain. Langer is confusing and seems to contradict himself every time he speaks. Bowlers lost all confidence since sandpaper scandal. Obsession with an all-rounder, giving up on 31 year olds yet selecting 35 year olds. We are a shambles from top to bottom at the moment.

Yup, it's an absolute pigs breakfast ATM. The problem is we will beat Sri Lanka 2-0, the Marshs will make runs and everything will be sweet again in the media and at Cricket Australia,
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

If the Marsh's are selected I wont watch. Pointless following a team with both Marsh's in the team. Neither are up to test standard.
