Will it just be Pattinson for Siddle, or will they give Cummins a rest?

Win the next test and we can't lose the ashes.

Love to see Starc in. I think he will be fired up with his pace.

Starc 150km, unleashed, hostile and bouncing Archer and his laughing friends. I want to see that.

Starc has reached 160, but not sure he could do that again.

          5th fastest of all time:

          Mitchell Starc Bowling Speed: 160.4 km/hour [99.7 miles/hour]

A lot of the commentary seems to suggest Bancroft is the one in trouble but for the life of me I can't think why. Neither is in the sort of form to retain their spot off their own bat, and Bancroft at the very least offers something extra in the field.

Bancroft doesn't look comfortable at the crease.

Root is a big cheat and should be called out.
If anyone is in any doubt about Root's catch - https://au.sports.yahoo.com/ashes-jo...220123188.html I think this video says it all. There is no way that could be a catch. The ball bounces UP into his fingers. Even if his fingers were under the ball there was ground assistance to complete the catc - NOT OUT

The bigger question is WTF were the umpires doing? Soft decision is out. Fair enough. 3rd umpire should have said - actually there is doubt and that doubt should go to the batsman.

                      Please.

There was an incident a few years ago where a catch went to Graeme Smith in the slips.

He thought he'd got his hands under it, but he wasn't 100%, so simply approached the umpire and gave a "3rd Umpire" signal rather than a loud vocal appeal/claim.

The replay showed he'd had his fingers under the ball and that it was a clean catch.

It was a fine act of sportsmanship.

It was also the same series that saw Smith come out to bat with a broken hand to try and save a test match.

Defining character moment for Smith and something for Root to look to.

Warner doesn't last long enough to look comfortable. He is in trouble, especially after the the mare he had in the field.

Personally I would drop both, move Khawaja up to open, bring in Harris and bat Lambuschagne at 3, if Smith is fit to play.

The 2 positives I give Bancroft are:

                        1) his catching at short leg buys him some credits; and
                        2) he occupies the crease and chews up balls (66 in the first and 40 inthe 2nd).

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Whether Joe thought it was out or not is one thing. He has every right to appeal. What is WRONG though is that three umpires could come to the decision that it was out.

I don't for one minute think it was a catch but it's a long bow to accuse him of cheating

The plan is for Cummins to play all 5 tests, Pattinson to play the 1st, 3rd and 5th tests. Don't write off Neser playing a test either
