Re: Our 2019/20 Summer of Test cricket

I'm thinking the selectors may very well end up with a bolter at 6 seeing as they love that bowling option and none of the batsman have been great. I could see them thinking of Moises Henriques.

Currently has 295 runs @ 49 this Shield season after 654 runs @ 35 last year.

He's not bowling much, 12 overs this year and 40 last year, but has 8 wickets @ 19 over those 62 overs.

The other name I could see them thinking is Stoinis. He's been handy rather than dominant so far this Shield season - 286 runs @ 40 and 14 wickets @ 18 apiece, but he's bowling a lot more and has found a grove there.

If Stoinis makes runs in this Shield round, I could see them giving him a baggy green.

Well Henriques is making a case, following up the first innings century with a quick fire 40 (so far) as NSW chase quick runs to set up a victory chance against WA.

I remember hearing various commentators on the Ashes tour saying he was bowling very well in the nets and was really hurrying the batsman up

One other bowler I'd have him ahead of is Siddle. Neser is also a handy batsman

Pattinson, Meredith, Winter, Sayers, Bird, J.Richardson and Tremain really round off a great array of quicks for us.
I like Neser a lot. He doesn't exactly look express off the pitch but he straightens good batsmen up so he must be a lot quicker than he looks. And he's a good player with the bat, he hits the ball nice and crisply and has learned to build an innings more than most lower order batsmen.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Pucovski has withdrawn himself from test consideration for mental health reasons.

I was all for picking him but think GVG is right, needs to be at Victoria until he's confident that he's okay.

It's a sign of his maturity that he has stepped back.

He's going to be a talented player for a long period and a full season with Victoria might be a blessing in the long run

It takes a big man to step up and say "Something is not right with me" especially when it's your brain that has gone rogue and you are on the verge of realizing your lifetime's ambition. I just hope that this doesn't push Wil back too far in the pecking order for a spot in the team.

                  Good luck to the kid.

                    Australia Test squad
David Warner, Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Cameron Bancroft, Tim Paine (capt & wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, James Pattinson, Michael Neser

Looks like it's Head for the middle order, Burns v Bancroft for an openers spot and Starc v Pattinson for the third quick.

Based on Hohns' comments, Burns will be opening and Bancroft is in as the spare.

Think Starc gets the nod based on his Shield so far.

Didn't hear Hohn's comments but that is what I would have expected since Bancroft wasn't even in the A side until Maddinson withdrew.

Starc would be the front runner but I wouldn't be completely shocked if Patto got a gig.

Pattinson out for sledging an opponent. He's got a one game ban

The speedster has been found guilty of a Level Two breach of CA's Code of Conduct following Victoria's Marsh Sheffield Shield game against Queensland last week. Under the Code, a Level Two breach is enough to trigger a suspension.

It was his third breach in the last 18 months and he made a homophobic remark.

We can't ask for the team to be better behaved on-field and then complain when they're sanctioned for stepping over the line.
