Over 86,000 there, pity the world record for a women's match wasn't broken with another 5000.

Australia simply too good with the openers setting up the match.

      Just got home.

      Oh. My. *!*!*!*!ing. Goodness.

      The atmosphere was incredible.

Katy Perry kicking off the show was fantastic.

Alyssa Healy's knock was insane. She was just striking the ball so magnificently. She and Beth Mooney batted India out of the game, which is a feat itself in T20 cricket.

Then the bowlers come on and tear the Indian top order to pieces. Megan Schutt is amazing. I'm glad we had seats at square leg, its amazing the pace and bounce Megan can genarate when she really lets it go.

Everyone around us was marvelling at how sharp the Australian fielding was and it showed.

The crowning moment for the crowd was the Mexican Wave. It did 9 laps of the stadium. I've been going to international cricket in all 3 forms for over 30 years and its the best Mexican Wave I've ever been a part of.

It was a great night for cricket and a great night for women's sport. It has given the AFL a blueprint to follow: Take the game seriously, promote it, support it, let it grown and reap the benefits.

Brydon Coverdale, AKA 'The Shark' from The Chase, tweeted:

Len Hutton once said women playing cricket was absurd, “just like a man trying to knit”. I hope Len is looking down on the MCG tonight, knocking up a cardigan or something.

        Gold.

        And this from Titus O'Reilly:

Great crowd. It's almost if you develop and promote women's sport properly, people will watch it. Who knew?

Agree it was a fabulous night. The Australian fielding was superb and I think the two dropped catches by India (Healy in the first over) were significant. India were fabulous throughout the tournament with an average age of just 22 including three teenagers, they will be a force if they can stick together.

The one thing I hate about T20, and nothing to do with women or men, is the need to have music played every minute there is no cricket, even during an over when the bowler is walking back to bowl the next ball. I just don't get it.

The music is for the youngsters BAD. Not for old fogies like you and me.

I love loud music, but it has no part to play during a sporting event. Before and after the game is fine.
