Green is just chewing up balls here. Go big or go home, kid.

Gee those batting averages for the series is pretty poor reading.

Wade, Head and Burns all averaging 20 is a real disappointing outcome.

His career has been insane. First selected as a bowler, was dropped from the Test team for 2 years, came back as an all rounder and took 23 innings before making his first ton.

Really need Shield cricket to be played concurrently and banish BBL till after the Tests

Hmmmm, Greene almost turned that into a really good contribution but would be super disappointed with how he went out then. Didn't need to play at it.

Fifty more runs needed I think......the pitch is doing a bit. Interesting game.
                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

But we picked Burns with no form in the Shield or the Australia A game so I'm not sure it makes that much difference

We need to get the guys playing on pitches that seam and assessing form based on that. Actually you could go further and rate a guys performance again players that matter. For instance a batsman making 200 in Adelaide against a pedestrian SA attack that has no guys near, let alone in the test squad is worth way less than a 50 against NSW on a seaming wicket with 3 or so guys around the test set up.

Weather looking ok at the Gabba for today (around 3pm prediction of some rain). Hopefully get a result in Australia’s favour with the pitch starting to show uneven bounce. Can’t see India getting the runs, but at some stage I think they will have a crack, especially if Pant comes in if the score is around 150. Stating the obvious but the morning session is the key.

Again a disappointing batting performance by us given we were 0/80 again against a 2nd string attack. Just not good enough. This is only the 3rd time in 32 years where we have been bowled out in the 2nd innings at the Gabba - previously against the WI lead by Ambrose and Walsh and another time against NZ in 2008/09 (against a pretty average attack).

This has been a very good effort by the Indian bowlers with a total of 4 tests between the bowlers, prior to this game. India have some really good depth at the moment, particularly in their bowling department. Bowling away from the sub-continent has always been their Achilles Heel but over the last few years this has changed.

India have a lot of depth because in a country of 1 billion plus people and all mad on cricket, they are lining up to play in the national team and there are alot of good players out there.

As you say the morning session will decide this test match. Our bowlers, especially Starc have got to be more accurate and stop the barrage of short balls and start moving the ball around a bit.

                        My prediction - another draw.

They've always been passionate about cricket and have always had a vastly bigger population but around 15 years ago they became a powerhouse because the got serious about winning and set a high standard in all facets of the game.
I can recall when their fielding standards probably weren't as good as a district cricket team but despite their dropped catches in this series their fielding standards are right up there

Lets face it, it doesn't really matter if you have a 100 test quality players or 20 because you only field 11.
Our job is to come up with 20 quality players and we can more than match it with anyone

I tend to agree it was always destined to be a draw but I'm not convinced we have bowled as well as we can

The main difference between the two sides, is that apart from their collapse for 36 in Adelaide, the Indian team have otherwise avoided clusters of wickets falling, whereas the Australian batsmen have given up multiple wickets in short times spans.
That's in part due to great application on the part of the Indian batsmen, by placing a value on each wicket and ensuring the pressure goes back onto the bowling team. I also think Starc and Lyon have not been as effective as they would've liked.
I know Lyon has been great and taken almost 400 wickets, but I just don't think he's effective enough in 2nd innings in conditions which should suit a spinner.
                            Starc looks cooked to me.

As for our batting, well we really need to take a leaf our of India's book and find a couple of blokes who place high value on their wicket and who can bat consistently for long periods of time. It can't always be left to Smith and Labuschagne.

I'm very happy with Green's trajectory. He looks like he will develop into a top line player to me. Pucovski has shown some talent, just hope his mind and body allow him to have a long term career at this level. We still need another middle order player who can be a mainstay of the batting lineup... I don't think that is McDermott. I'm not sure someone has put their hand up yet, hence why Wade keeps getting a nod.
