The top of the order really suits Head and he's a far better player of pace than spin. I wonder if he'd ever consider batting there for South Australia in the Shield?

Can he do it in tests?

BTW, not a very good crowd.

It's been a trend in the 3 games so far.

I haven't been to a ODI for along time, and I was going to go today, but the weather put me off

Head a century and Warner on 76, Australia 0-194 in 30th over

Impressive from the opening batsman. Pleased for Warner to get amongst the runs again.

I don't mind this suggestion. He hasn't quite made it as a middle order batsman.

I would have thought lifting Marsh up the order might have been a good move once both openers went.
Stoinis and Smith need to get going.

Big hitting by the Australians and a massive score posted.

I'd like to see it at first class level first, but if Sehwag could with his technique, I don't see why Head couldn't. A lot of slappy left handers have thrived at the top.

I think he's a good player but I'm not sure you have a long lifespan batting 5 if you struggle against spin the way Trav does.

He's booked his World Cup ticket now at least.

I haven't seen Cummins move a ball like this for a long time. Doing plenty off the surface and in the air - has James Vince in all sorts.

I cant get over how small the crowd is. Conditions aren't that bad but the crowd will start leaving by 9pm

It's bad scheduling, they've ruined the Australian cricket international summer by screwing with the schedule so much.
The format with Tests and a tri 50 over tournament was a winner every year.
I had nfi these were on until last week.

This article from Dan Brettig is really interesting re. crowds: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket...20-p5bzpf.html

"Much can be drawn from the fact that over the more than 40 years since the end of the World Series Cricket schism that gave us more or less the rough outline of the commercially driven international season, only three ODIs have been held at the MCG in November.

"The average attendance from those three matches, in 1981, 2010 and 2014, is a mere 17,993. For December, that figure jumps up beyond 40,000. For January, it is nearly 50,000. Even in February, matches over the past 40 years have attracted around 40,000 per game."

The issue is the scheduling of INdia series which are in Jan/Feb, so teams don't want to come to Australia and play the Tri-series any more. Also the addiction to 20-20 cricket which is in my opinion is cricket for dummies hasn't helped. Why sit at the G for a day when you can just get the last 10 overs of each innings with your team zero wickets down.

That was the last ODI to be played in Australia till 2024.

ODI became too predictable years ago and is now boring.

                              Bring on the tests.

It hasn't changed a lot since world series has it?
