Just noticed this

Pakistan's 847 runs in this Test is the 2nd-highest to lose a Test match, after England's 861 at Leeds in 1948 (the match in which Morris and Bradman helped Aus to 3-404 in the fourth innings).

Thats a lot of runs to still lose a game.

England made the second earliest declaration in test history yesterday v NZ - 9/325 off 58.2 overs. The kiwis 3/37 in reply.

Not sure the broadcasters and cricket boards will be thrilled by 3 day tests!

I think it was driven by the light (better to have Anderson bowling a pink ball than facing it), but they aren't tempering their style.

I don't want to be 'that guy' putting caveats around it, but the two NZ debutant seamers - Tickner and Kuggeleijn don't really look Test standard to me.

Yeah I read the tail were instructed to throw their bat around given the opportunity to bowl to NZ late with a new pink ball. Good tactics on the fly.

True that outside Southee and Wagner this NZ attack is lacking.

The ashes are going to be fascinating.

Side note: I'm going to be arriving in London just as the final test at the oval is getting underway. I didn't have any luck with the ticket ballot, anybody know of a way to score tickets without selling a kidney?

Yeah and I won't be going at that price but I assume those are significantly marked up. There is going to be some sort of member resale through the Oval but I'm not sure what my chances are.

Bazball is insane, but good. It will be interesting to see how it goes with a series like the ashes, but one thing I would be saying if I was Australia is can you afford to play Mitchell Starc in England going for 5 or 6 an over?

Bazball is under a bit of threat and it all comes down to Root and Stokes to save them
England need another 140 but are 5 wickets down.
