I didn't see the match on Kayo. Is it being broadcast elsewhere?

      Channel 7 have the rights

Only saw bits and pieces but the conditions are tough and India really fluffed their lines. Shami and Siraj were good but Yadav was all over the place, and I just can't understand leaving Ashwin out of any side.

Head is on top of the world confidence wise at the moment and I think Smith played an extremely controlled knock. Smith is in a really interesting place - I've felt for a while that he's looked excellent at the crease and just managed to find ways to get himself out. I think his runs will be crucial to Ashes success, so it's great to see him spend time at the crease.

I also thought Warner did enough to get himself an Ashes look. He was out there in the toughest conditions, battled, started to thrive and was pretty unlucky to get out in the way he did. Who'd want to be an opener in England?

Head has quietly been doing Bazball without the fanfare or hashtag. His strike rate in the last couple of years has been off the charts and he has gotten Australia out of many sticky situations with quick scoreboard pressure.

He will be as important in the Ashes defence as any player.

Read this morning that he's the only batter over the past two years to have scored more than 1000 runs, averaging over 50 and a strike rate at 80+. He's having an Adam-Gilchrist like impact on games.

I think this Ashes will be defined by how our batsman deal with some of the scars that Broad and Anderson have inflicted on them in English conditions. Khawaja and Head are different players to the ones that have struggled in the UK in the past - think they either find redemption this tour, or it's something that hangs over their careers.

Could have been worse if Cummins hadn't bowled a no ball when trapping Rahane in front which would have made it 5/87.

Hopefully we can still carry a +200 run lead into the second innings. Fortunately the game has moved along at a reasonable pace so there is still plenty of time left.

Thats about what we need to do, take a 200 run lead into the next innings.

It's an interesting deck too - not something you'd expect in the UK or at the Oval. Hard with good pace and bounce but those big cracks will be a worry. I think India will regret bowling first come days 4 and 5.

We cannot go into the Ashes with Warner. Why he is on the Tour beggars belief

                            and he did.

Very good win and great lead up to the Ashes.

England have named their XI with Mark Wood missing out and Moeen Ali named after not playing a first class match in 18 months.

England XI: 1 Zak Crawley, 2 Ben Duckett, 3 Ollie Pope, 4 Joe Root, 5 Harry Brook, 6 Ben Stokes (capt), 7 Jonny Bairstow (wk), 8 Moeen Ali, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Ollie Robinson, 11 James Anderson.

That's an impressive batting order. I heard something yesterday that indicated that Duckett had only left 8 deliveries out of something like 600 go to the keeper so I just checked this

Duckett has left the ball eight times in six Tests

In mid-afternoon Sky came up with this startling stat: Duckett, since his recall last December, had left the ball – had let it pass unplayed outside off stump – eight times. Eight times in six Tests. Most England openers through the ages have left the ball many times more than eight in every session.

A big question that will be asked on 16 June is: Can a batsman, especially an opener who has to contend with a new hard ball, succeed against Australia without leaving the ball more than once per match? It will be a first if Duckett does, but then so much in contemporary Test cricket has no precedent.
