Re: Men's ODI World Cup 2023

Watched the whole game. Great win.

India got away early when Sharma went big, but the introduction of Maxwell was genius as it brought the error and Head made a half chance count. From there it really was tight bowling, amazingly tight fielding that sucked the life out of the Indian batting and most importantly the crowd. We bowled smart, fielded smart.

The batting started frenetically - the ball seamed and zipped all over the place and at times Bumrah and Shami were unplayable, though to be fair the Warner and Marsh swipes were unnecessary, panicked even. Steve Smith has lost his off stump, he doesn't know where it is and his decision to not review was baffling and potentially costly. For me it was marnus who settled things down and encouraged Head to play naturally but sensibly. This meant we weren't bogged down in the run chase which the indian batters were when Kohli and Rahul came together.

All in all it was easy in the end, but that was because we made it easy. Great result and proof once again that you don't need to be the best team in the tournament, just the better team when it counts!
