We have plenty of options for the openers but none of them are convincing and it doesn't appear like Travis head wants to try there either so it does look like McSweeney is the best placed to give it a try.

Just on Hayden but from memory he opened early on with QLD whereas McSweeney has limited experience at the top of the order.
Lets hope we unearth a Simon Katich with Nathan McSweeney.

      Out for 39 from 131.

I do worry a bit that a Khawaja/McSweeney opening combination could have a tendency to get a bit bogged down. For all Warner's detractors it is nice to have one of the openers push the scoring a bit early if possible when the field is up and ball hard.

I know the selectors only see Inglis as a middle order option at the moment but would it be worth having a look at him opening for WA? Longer term an Inglis/McSweeney opening combination could strike a nice balance.

BTW why is Phillipe playing in this match rather than Inglis?

A lot of cricket fans will start to appreciate Warner more once the scoring rate in the opening session takes a big dive.

Just realised Inglis isn't playing Australia A because he's playing in the ODI series against Pakistan starting on Monday. Did anybody even notice we are playing ODIs and T20s v Pakistan?

Looks like McSweeney is now well positioned for the openers role after an encouraging 47no in the 2nd innings in the Australia A and India A game. At the moment there isn't a lot of batsman making a strong claim for the series against India.

Do we think they're really pick on form or merit?
              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I've been challenging the way they've tended to select sides for a while now.
It seems that team harmony plays a big role in selections.

India have been whitewashed by NZ at home. The Kiwi's play the game with the right approach.

Unbelievable performance by NZ. That is as good a series win that there ever has been in world cricket. Amazing. All without Kane Williamson. There are no superstars in that team but they play so well together as a unit. Latham has done a seriously good job as captain.

A lot of teams and including ours would have likely capitulated in the final test but you have to admire the way the NZ players stuck at it. As you say, no real star players just a solid team that plays it the right way.

New Zealand nailed their bowling selections as well - they went with two left-arm spinners in Santner and Patel who bowl flat and into the wicket and it came off brilliantly.

We've had some success in doing similarly with SOK and Kuhnemann but that has to be the template heading to India.

This Indian side is starting to look a little brittle all of a sudden. Rohit and Kohli both are looking pretty old and tired.

Did you see the ball he was out on? It would have knocked over a lot of batsman

Look at his last year .
Can’t tell me he has faced balls that would get anyone out Everytime.
The old statement , it’s harder to get out of the Australian side than in it.
His one day World Cup was atrocious.
He is 36 it’s not going to get any better.

I walked away from the tv for a little while when we were coasting at 3 for, came back and we looked in all sorts at 7 for, said to my wife what the hell happened, she said there was a Pakistan player going for a hatrick, without knowing i said let me guess, Maxwell made a golden? quick look on the CRICINFO app and sure enough.........but yes it was a Jaffa, but also off course it was Maxi.
