    4th Test, India VS Australia

Highly surprised one of GVGjr, SS or Mantis hasn't started this thread already.

India won the toss and batted.

Great start by India, with Sehwag bagging a 50, before 3 wickets, two of them to Mr 0/200 himself, Jason Krejza.

Tendulkar and Laxman have regained control and have pushed the score to 3/247 in the 65th over.

Once again we have gone into the game with just 3 strike bowlers but at least today after seeing the pitch I can understand why we would want 2 spinners.
The Indians have gone after Krejza but he has snared 3 wickets out of the 4 so far. I think he should have been in the side from the first test.

At least he gave the ball some air, turned it and got some bounce (Laxman). I thought he toiled manfully in the face of some agressive batting and should be well pleased with his efforts.

He gives some hope that he is likely to take a wicket unlike White who is way out of his depth.

The failure of Lee and Johnston to get any noticable movement through the air is very disppointing

I am seriously thinking of dusting off the creams and giving the old tweaker's another go.

FFS if Krejza can take 8 for, there is hope for us all.

Good to see a spinner do well.

Next test should be in Clark out White but if he keeps going the way he is it could also be out Lee in Siddle. He's barely getting to 140km so he can't be fit.

Lets not forget that there was once a bloke named Warne whose figures from he's first test read 1/150, and whose career average was 355 at one point.

Krejza is no Shane Warne, but heavens above, let the guy have a chance or two before we continue on about how crap he is.

He's just taken 8 wickets in an innings, a feat not one of our bowlers have come within coo-ee of achieving in this series.

He should have been played a couple of tests earlier. We really have wrecked our chances with poor selections.

Hayden run out for 16 when set.

                What a waste

                  Agreed.

Perhaps what was most impressive was not the 8 scalps, but the way he composed himself and came back after getting s-p-a-n-k-e-d by Sehwag in the early overs. Showed real character and mental toughness.

Agreed. Why we haven't played Krejza thus far is a mystery, he throws the ball up, entices the batsmen and looks to take wickets.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

We went for batting strength/depth and that hasn't worked that well. Nothing against White but unless he is there as the number 6 and as the 2nd spinner there is no real spot for him in the side.

We must get back to selecting 4 strike bowlers being supported by a batting all-rounder.
I'm not sure if that batting all-rounder spot should be filled by Watson, Symonds or someone else but we just can't go into games with 3 strike bowlers and 2 batting all-rounders.

It was impressive to me because the ball weren't bad ones and he knew that and didn't try to change what he was doing by bowling fast and flat for example

What a waste for the last 8 wickets and Hussey also run out. This test is sooooo boring with the over rates and field placings the Indians want the draw badly.

My sentiments exactly. Does there need to be restrictions on how many fielders can be on one side? Surely 6 or 7 is enough?

                              Good session for Australia.

India lost 6-60 odd. Ganguy went first ball in his last ever test innings & Tendulkar stupidly run out on the stroke of tea, just pushed it to cover & took off; by the time Dhoni sent him back White had fired the ball back to Haddin.

India lead by 252 runs with 4 wickets remaining.

Be interesting to see how this unfolds.

If Australia are chasing just under 300 will India adopt an 8-1 field & bowl outside off to frustrate Australia?
