Re: Shield Final
Id have a crack and put them back in, they're not going to win it from here so lets do it comprehensively and win in 3 and a half days. Give the crowd something to watch as well.Comment

Originally posted by ledgegee they need 9 wickets and over 400 to win on the last day, whats the chances?
Ridiculous or not, I'm holding my breath until Whitey's got his grubby mitts on the trophy.
(And what are the chances of Vics not being able to break into the Australian Test team until a month or two before the Shield Final, when they take our strike bowler, our leg-spinner, and our all-rounder... if you didn't know better you'd think it was a conspiracy. If Siddle, McGain and McDonald get dropped from the Test squad and sent home after the Shield Final it would confirm it!)
ps. Taking nothing away from Phil Hughes - I don't think it's a particularly unreasonable or paranoid charge to say that if Rogers were playing for NSW this year, he would already be opening for Australia.Comment

Re: Shield Final
Contrary to what I have posted on enforcing the follow on in the past I would have definitely done it on this occassion. After losing so much time to rain we were never in a position to lose the game, add to this the massive first innings score plus the piss poor batting efforts from the Qld'ers, why not go for the win?
There is no better feeling than winning a final by taking the final wicket or by scoring the winning run, a far better feeling than winning the game by it simply being called off.Comment

Re: Shield Final
I'm the most emphatic non-follow-onerer on WOOF and even i would have made them follow on.
We couldn't lose either way, we may as well have won the game.Comment

Re: Shield Final
Reason given for not enforcing follow-on was that Nannes et al were carrying niggles (that made them miss the last couple of games), a break would freshen them up for a second innings tilt.
(Of course, they did bowl only something like 60 overs, and they were getting a whole evening to put their feet up anyway.. don't know what a couple of hours more rest is supposed to achieve...)Comment
