90 Minutes of Play, 2 minutes of Excitement

I cannot get enthusiastic about soccer, so boring. The only reason the crowd sings at these matches is because they have nothing to do, they are bored, so they sing.

Do you really get excited, thrilled for 90 minutes?

I liked the World Cup and started to get into the Victory in the last half of the 07/08 season but since then it has become impossible for me to watch 90 minutes of this sport.

The transfers are at least interesting to watch.

Is this really the place you want to be making this kind of statement?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Yeah you're right not the best forum to have a whack at aussie rules! Personally I'm sick of the jibes at soccer and the continual comparison by talk back callers,Sms messages with Aussie Rules. Why can't people just accept that people like all sports?Plenty of Aussie rules games i've seen that haven't had 2 minutes of excitement. Just preparing when the world cup comes along we're going to get the obligatory ''soccer's boring'' B/S not as exciting as our game. Just a reminder that Soccer has the biggest sporting event called WORLD CUP.

I think you'll find that as a whole, WOOFers are pretty supportive of soccer - with a number of posters being massive fans of the sport.

How is a sport created in Australia supposed to "grip the world"?

Don't understand your question. Most sports started in 1 country then grew. They are suppose to grip the world just the same way other sports grip the world.

Australian rules football existed before Association Football and Rubgy did.

One major reason Australian rules football hasn't taken off around the world is the rules are fundamentally flawed.

The rules have been butchered over the last few years but that's not the reason footy isn't played around the world.

                          What rules are fundementally flawed?

Australia was isolated from the rest of the world, for such along time and with no borders with other countries, very difficult for AFL to grow. Soccer, has had the advantage of European countries being so close, and therefore entrenching the sport into their culture.

So sports managed to come here but none be exported elsewhere.
Australian Rules never even made it NZ.
