No one has ever scored 500 in the last innings of a test to win a match. 418 is the highest.
The highest at the Oval is 263.

An early breakthrough to Swann. Katich out.

      Gee, another one's out. Watson.

      Both LBW.

There I was thinking that we were in all sorts when we were set 546 on a minefield.

Only a minefield for our bats.

Clearly, only a Bulldog supporter would give the Aussies a chance chasing 546.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

You watching a different game ES??

Every 2nd ball is going thru the surface.

Might be, seemed ok in the English 1st and 2nd innings and for first 80 or so runs in both of ours.

Just going on what the wicket is doing now, not last night after it had been rolled or how it played 2 or 3 days ago.

Not watching and I believe you in that its crap now.
Was the wicket crap in Australia's first innings too?

You can't blame the pitch. Yes its not the greatest, but the POMS have scored 600 or so runs on it and a debutante scored a ton. Its a tough wicket to bat on, but that means putting your head down and scoring. Also, the Aussie bowlers bowled absolute trash. Poor line and length and let the English guys off the hook.

Australia will lose the Ashes today, but its not a total disaster. The series has unearthed a couple of players and identified a couple who need to develop further with their technique. One thing for certain though is that batting on flat tracks in Australia is simply not conducive to developing good techniques.

Its been crap for both teams. It has got to be the worse pitch I have seen in England.

No it wasn't, we just batted poorly.

The wicket is disgusting now and heads should roll for such a sub-standard wicket being dished up for such an important game.

We have been out-played, but this game was decided by the toss.

Who is to blame more then? The Australian batsmen or bowlers. To me the bats seem like flat track bullys.

On another note Huss seems to be hitting them well, I'm not sure whether to be pleased that the drought may be over or annoyed that he is delaying the inevitable.
