Anyone prepared to rank the 10 best current Australian pace bowlers and the 5 best spinners?

    Re: Ranking the bowlers

    Pace
    1. Johnson
    2. Hlifenhaus (injury withstanding)
    3. Bollinger
    4. Siddle
    5. McKay
    6. Harris
    7. Bracken (again, injury withstanding)
    8. Nannes
    9. Cutting
    10. Geeves

Tait left off because he doesn't play first class, Lee because I don't think he can make it back.

    Spin
    1. Hauritz
    2. Krejza
    3. Heal
    4. Holland
    5. McGain

Smith not in as his bowling is not yet up to standard.

      Re: Ranking the bowlers

      Not factoring in potential.

      Test/Shield
      Pace
      1- Bollinger
      2- Johnson
      3- Hilfenhaus
      4- Siddle
      5- McKay
      6- Cutting
      7- Geeves
      8- Nannes
      9- Hastings
      10- George

Hilfenhaus would be higher if not for injury.

      Spin
      1- Hauritz
      2- Krejza
      3- McGain
      4- Holland
      5- Heal

      ODI/ODD
      Pace
      1- Bracken
      2- McKay
      3- Bollinger
      4- Johnson
      5- Harris
      6- Rimmington
      7- Nannes
      8- Hilfenhaus
      9- Siddle
      10- Cutting

      Spin
      1- Hauritz
      2- Doherty
      3- Heal
      4- Krejza
      5- McGain

Lots of love for Bracken having him at 1 despite the long term injury.

      T2O
      Pace
      1- Nannes
      2- Rimmington
      3- Johnson
      4- Harris
      5- Tait
      6- Hilfenhaus
      7- Bracken
      8- McKay
      9- Siddle
      10- Bollinger

      Spin/Slow
      1- Hauritz
      2- Heal
      3- D.Hussey
      4- Doherty
      5- Holland

What does everyone think of O'Brien who I think has come along in leaps and bounds since moving down to SA, and is certainly someone I would entertain for the shorter forms of the game at this stage?
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

He's certainly jumped up the order but it's hard for me to get enthused by primarily limited over spinners.

Yet Hauritz is topping most lists, and only as much as 12 months ago that's what he was regarded as.

I do agree with you that O'Brien still needs a few more runs on the board as far as the longer form of the game goes, but he has come from a way back and put in quite a few impressive performances.

I can't see how Bollinger is rated higher than Siddle. I haven't seen every spell from both bowlers this summer but from what I have seen Siddle has bowled with no luck while Bollinger has picked up some wickets with ordinary deliveries.

Siddle for mine is clearly a better bowler.

I don't agree, Siddle was very average this summer while Bollinger has consistently taken wickets and trouble batsmen with his pace, bounce, angle and movement. IMO Siddle has had these stress fractures for a while now and it's shown in his output for the side.

Off the top of my head Siddles economy rate was better than Bollinger & Siddle had more play & misses than any other bowler this summer.

Bollinger bowls a bit like Ian Botham in that he looks ordinary but he's the one getting the wickets.
