That's right. It's why i put in the proviso that it'll die down if he stops performing

Are you not a fan or do you not rate him?

        One more go

If he stops performing as well (which he is likely to eventually) the hype (being excessive comparing him to the greats like they did with Start Clark when he had a great start) will die down.

Why? In 12 months time he could possibly be our number 1 bowler(if he isn't already).

Sorry but I'm lost. I'm not criticizing Bollinger just stating that it's common for cricketers who start in a blaze of glory to get excessive hype which inevitably settles as their performances level out over time.

Fair enough. I've turned into a bit of a Bollinger fan(as you could probably tell).

Cant fault his performances to date but I'm not sold as of yet. I want to see how he goes against the like of South Africa and India before I start singing his praises as our spearhead.

Ditto. Sure, we can only beat what's put in front of us, and some of the players (Dougie inclusive) have done well, but (and it's a bit but) we've only played West Indies, New Zealand and flippin' Pakistan, who would struggle to beat Dimboola women's third XI.

It's far too premature for the selectors and media to be hailing their selections as 'successes' based on incomplete evidence. If cricket were footy and we played Richmond and Melbourne every year the media would be hailing Mitch Hahn as the greatest full-forward of all time. Doesn't make it true.
