Re: 20/20 World Cup
I reckon the Poms would have been thinking damn, they would have taken the Paki's who are like a yo-yo, so up & down, and mentally weak in big games, compared to the Aussies who just find ways to win.
Will be a great final.Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
Funny, the thought of an England/Australia final in some sporting contest would normally have me salivating, unfortunately I can't really get enthused about this. Haven't seen a ball bowled in the tournament.85, 92, 97, 98, 08, 09, 10... Break the curse!Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
I guess the timeslot doesn't help, game starting at 2am our time, i have been catching up with most of it watching the replays, although i did watch the first innings live this morning, and for some reason woke up for the final 3 overs with the Aussies 7 wickets down with over 50 to win.
If it wasn't for David Hussey, who knows what the Paki's could have scored, he really stopped the bleeding during the Paki's innings with some tight bowling, and his brother with just an unbelievable innings scoring 50 or 60 off 20 odd balls.
The Akmal brothers really cut loose, both scoring half centuries.Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
Cam White's little cameo shouldn't be forgotten either. Unbelievable finish - memories of Alan Lamb launching into Bruce Reid at the SCG many years ago.
England were lucky to qualify for ths Super 8s, with a loss to the Windies and a rainout against the Irish, but have they taken advantage of it crushing everyone in their path.
It sets up a potentially great final.Footscray member since 1980.Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
I honestly cant see Australia losing after that sort of semi final, we've seen it a few times in the one day world cups where a close semi has preceded quite a one sided final largely because of the confidence factor. The Aussies at the moment would be feeling invincible and on top of the world, its going to take something special from KP to get England over the line, he's probably the only pom with the talent and experience not to be overawed.
I'm expecting an Australian win by 20+ runs.Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
It's actually the first time I've ever watched a 20/20 match. Had never watched one at all until our game vs Sri Lanka.
I'd given up on us in the semi - was at a pub in London with a few pom mates and they were all up and about saying the trophy is theirs - but now it's on for a massive final.
Perfect time slot over here. 4:30pm games start. So Sunday afternoon at the pub it is tomorrow!Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
I guess all of the confidence & momentum was quickly snuffed out as our top order failed again, leaving all the work again for White & the Hussey's to mop up.I honestly cant see Australia losing after that sort of semi final, we've seen it a few times in the one day world cups where a close semi has preceded quite a one sided final largely because of the confidence factor. I wonder if all the Poms, including he 2 Sth African born will be all knighted after winning their first ever World cup?Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
What? We nearly won the thing? Oh, sorry, must have slept right through something that was supposed to be AS IMPORTANT AS TEST CRICKET!!!, according to our Test Captain-in-waiting M.Clarke.
Even if we won the thing the collective care-factor in Australia would have been -20. I can't recall a single event in any of our main sporting codes that has had any less interest -- even in Bowls (and Snooker!) we tend to get a bit of buzz when we get close to winning something/anything.Comment

Re: 20/20 World Cup
Shane Watson looked to have had a ripping game.
Why wouldn't Clarke bowl D.Hussey considering Swann was the most effective bowler for England?
In saying that with Clarke as captain they got what they deserved... Disgrace that they had Haddin batting above both White & D.Hussey.Comment

It's a disgrace that Clarke can get into this team. His batting is not suited for 20/20.Shane Watson looked to have had a ripping game.
