LeBron James makes his pick: He's going to Miami

    See ya, Cleveland.

Sorry, Chicago, New York and New Jersey. Maybe next time around, Clippers.

LeBron James chose superstar help over the comforts of home and is heading for Miami because he wants to win a championship with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

NBA, get ready: A superstar trio has just been born.

He will be earning $96,000,000....that is just crazy!

The Cavs fans have been burning his jumper.

Is this where we want the AFL to go?

As soon as you are a free agent, bye bye. Shop yourself around to the highest bidder or where you are going to get the most success?

Even worse, turn it into a circus and have film crews for a reality TV program follow you around to all the clubs while you make your decision. Very disturbing indeed if that is where we are heading.

Does he get his uniform thrown in too?

Big news day for the American's. Another big team of stars has been created, similar to what Boston did a few years ago with Garnet, Pierce and Allen.

Good luck to them. My brother is so excited and happy it's unbelievable.

I wonder if Ablett was watching ESPN this morning.

Re: LeBron James makes his pick: He's going to Miami

              The following is taken from just a part of an article published before the decision was made;

It would be unforgivable. Repeat: unforgivable. I don't have a dog in this race -- as a Celtics fan, I wanted to see him go anywhere but Chicago -- but LeBron doing this show after what happened in the 2010 playoffs actually turned me against him. No small feat. I was one of his biggest defenders. Not anymore.

And here's where I really worry, because I don't think LeBron James has anyone in his life with enough juice to hurl his or her body in front of the concept of "I'm going to announce during a one-hour live show that I'm playing somewhere other than Cleveland." It's the best and worst thing about him -- he has remained fiercely loyal to his high school friends, but at the same time, he's surrounded by people his own age who don't stand up to him and don't know any better. Picking anyone other than Cleveland on this show would be the meanest thing any athlete has ever done to a city. But he might. Assuming he's not malicious, and that he's just a self-absorbed kid who apparently lost all perspective, that doesn't make him much different than most child stars who became famous before they could legally drink -- or, for that matter, Tiger Woods. That's just the way this stuff works. Too much, too fast, too soon. You don't lose your way all at once; just a little at a time. Then one day you look up and there's a TMZ photo spread with 15 of your mistresses, or you're agreeing to stab an entire city in the heart on a one-hour television show.

The entire article is a good read, but this part was of real interest. Just imagine the pain if someone like our own Chris Grant carried on like this, all the media, all the bull**** and then just left.

How can free agency be good for the game?

Pitiful. I have no interest in watching these 3 prima donnas run around the court at all. He'll get his ring but deep down he knows he took the easy way out because he couldn't carry a team by himself. He failed time after time. Kobe would have won titles with the team Lebron had especially last season.

I'll be doing something I have never done before barrack for LA.

If that were the case Kobe would have won a title before Gasol got to LA.

Simmons isn't arguing against FA though and I doubt he could imagine a world without it. He was suggesting that the narcissistic approach of James (announcing it on a 1hour tv show - honestly) was just outrageous and further that going to Miami doesn't make sense from either a basketball perspective (they still have to fill a 12-man roster and with a lock-out likely for next summer not too many veterans will be looking to take a pay cut in 2011) or a 'historical' standpoint...he has jumped out of Cleveland where he would have remained a folk hero and ignored NY where he would have become one.

I think it is pretty well known I am all for the players and believe that 7 years at one club is long enough to be eligible for a form of restricted free-agency...but I think we have debated this one enough over the years!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Would've liked to see him in Chicago, but ah well.

I wonder what his price will be, if he actually wins a title.

All diplomacy out the window. plus he's disregarding everything LeBron did for his franchise.

As a Celtic fan I'll be taking up knitting before supporting LA.

Sorry. I wasn't saying that he was for it. I was just thinking about how this USA self centered sports culture is another step closer towards our great game due to the move towards free agency.
