Wow, Watson is really consistent these days isn't he.. really good to see. The one project player out of the Hilditch debacle years that came good. Not quite 'dominant' (still makes too few 100s, much less big 100s despite very, very consistent starts), but good, solid contributor and probably our leading player these days. Definitely made an almost-fan out of a me who was previously a big, big critic.

When was the last time there was a good all-rounder who also opened the batting (for any test playing country)?

I have been watching this. Whilst there has been some uneven bounce his late inswingers are working well.
