And yet its Hussey and Ponting saving Australia's bacon at the moment. Boxing Day seems to bring out the best in punter. Here's hoping they both make it to centuries so that they can leave the game in a fitting manner.

Ponting caught. Not bad, 60 off 93 balls - 150 minutes. Steadied the ship when needed. hope Hussey can manage another 40 runs.

Clarke better stick to vodafone commercials I think.
Haddin doesn't look confident at all. very frustrating to watch him walk for just 6, a wide delivery, just poked at the thing.
Now Siddle will come in and I hope he gets another solid 40 or so to show up the top order batsmen.

Isn't Watson normally VC when fit? Not saying Haddin should be VC but who is left to do it? Ponting cannot be, Hussey is under pressure also to keep his place.

The team is very light on for experience, and experience and cool heads is what is desperately required.

And haddin is a cool head in a crisis? A more flighty batsman youll be hard pressed to find, and a more dodgy test level keeper you wont see.

I'm not as anti Haddin as others are (though I'm mildly so), but someone needs to explain to both of those guys that in a tight test you HAVE to hold your wicket. You must.

Clarke is mostly a front runner IMO, but he's shown in the past he has the ability to be gritty, so why doesn't he when it's most needed?

And who didn't know Haddin was going to go cheap when he put those two terribly ill conceived shots skyward?

The bowlers must be so frustrated, they bowled superbly to turn the game.

On another note, good to have you back a39. Where you been?

I never said Haddin should be VC.

I asked who else could be? Who is the other option?

Re: Boxing Day Test - Australia vs India

Our batting is darn right pathetic...the bowlers helped get us to a decent score in the 1st innings after a great platform was laid and yet again after the bowlers did a great job this morning, our batters (well most anyway) showed none of the application required to perform at test level.

Not laying the boots in (but I will anyway), but Clarke as captain made noise before this test that he wanted to be the one who changed the momentum of the game when we were in trouble.. he had the chance today when he strode to the crease, but he came and went in quick time and has done little to change mosts opinion that he is a front running cat.

On Clarke - Rodney Hogg mentioned that Australia have batted 5 times this summer.

Siddle has outscored Clarke in 4 of the 5.

Didn't see the first innings in South Africa? Unfortunately it's a big score or nothing for Clarke.

Lot of people who listen to SEN wanted Cameron White as captain.
Interesting comment from Dean Jones tonight in that Victoria hasn't produced a decent batsmen since Brad Hodge.

There was a bit of swing today, more than the first day, but as Richie Benow said, one word sums up what our batters need. WORK.
Siddle has become a bit of an all rounder hasn't he? Love his work ethic.

For the life of me this fixturing of no first class cricket is nothing short of criminal.
Marsh hadn't played for 5 weeks yet is thrust into 3.
Where does Khwaja get first class runs?C/A and James Sutherland should be tarred and feathered for this fixturing disgrace.
