His eyes firmly planted on the football. Intent was the ball, and unless He has another set of eyes, he didn't know the Player was there. Also saying he went down deliberately is plain silly.
I'd imagine making contact with a leg in the air isn't a pleasant experience.

It's just bitterness, and logic doesn't apply to his argument.

Yes I would be. Are you happy with players swinging their legs about wildly with no apparent knowledge or care of players around them? When does it become a red? Only if a player gets seriously injured? What he did was reckless and dangerous and in my and many others including Roy Keane's opinion it was a red card.

If it were bitterness talking I would be saying you got screwed and laughing (like I did with Chelsea when Drogba went nuts). You lost, there is nothing to be bitter about.

          Poll there is split 50/50

highlights by me. As I said I could see it being a yellow but am staggered that people cant see how it cold possibly be a red card and the "barely a yellow" comments are illogical.

I knew you would quote Roy Keane.
The guy has an axe to grind with Ferguson and the club.
Steve Nicol by the way thought the decision was a disgrace.
Most pundits, fans , even the United haters said the decision was harsh.

Will you concede he had no chance of seeing the Madrid player?
His fixed on the Football, intent to trap the ball and made incidental contact.
Swinging his legs wildly is a gross exaggeration. He had no knowledge of the player because he didn't see him.If his eyes were on the player and the ball I'd have no issue, obviously.

If Nani was right to be sent off then why don't players get sent off for over head kicks and why don't goal keepers get sent of when they come out for the ball but miss the ball and catch a player in the face(like what happened to Vidic), isn't this dangerous play also?

Yep, he just raised his leg up to control the ball.

Intent doesnt matter. How is it a gross exaggeration. When you try to control a ball that is going past you at head height with your feet you are doing so in a reckless and dangerous manner. He jumped with his studs in the air and collected someone in the chest.

                    Is that not dangerous?

If a player collects someone doing an overhead kick they will certainly get a card and most likely get a red card.

With goalkeepers that is part of the most annoying part of the game, defenders can get away with a lot more inside a penalty area. It should have been a penalty and at least a yellow.

I give up. The majority of the football pundits didn't think it was worthy of a red.
Honestly, quoting Roy Keane is like asking Aker his thoughts on the Western Bulldogs.
I take polls with a grain of salt, united are the Collingwood of the world game.

The majority didnt think it was barely a yellow either.

Just so I can get this right. Keane has a problem with SAF, I am bitter and the 50% that answered "red card" in that poll all hate United?

They've had a spat and according to Keane they will never make up.

I've seen players try a bicycle kick and make contact and not get a red.

My last contribution on this topic is that most PUNDITS
Thought it didn't warrant a red. I'll leave it at that
