Looks like it unless we can get 3 wickets before the day is out or if Sri Lanka get the target of 393.

2 more wickets and we claim our first test victory this summer.

Great victory. We had to fight hard for it but we got it in the end. Great performance from Mitchell Starc. The Sri Lankans worked hard but couldn't hold on.

14 wickets in two tests. I think Starc is staying.

Very hot and cold though, cleans up the tail but struggled against the top order

Pretty inexperienced as well. Considering Lyon can't get the tail out it 's vital someone does.
Thought Siddle was tremendous ( as usual )
Lyon's pushing them through, no drift and bowling his overs to quickly. The whole DRS system is a farce to be honest . This should be used for the howlers and decided by the third umpire.

I think Lyon is a good bowler but he hasn't been a factor when needed.
He's lucky there isn't another spinner doing well.

He will stay alright but from what I have seen (a bit limited) he's been struggling to put in a good over.
Batsman are very likely to punish all his bad deliveries.

Just had a look at the squad for the next test and if we assume Clarke will not play 6 of the top 7 batsman will be left handers.

Did Cricket Australia consult Hawthorn on the benefit of lefties?

Heard Slater on the radio tonight who seemed to think Clarke will play.

Lyon is an interesting one. I think we need to stick with him, but he does need to slow down and take his time. He tweaked a few things in this test and still needs to learn but I think he can become a reliable option without ever being a star.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I think the best thing about Lyon has been his mentality, has answered every challenge so far, deserves to be stuck with. History is well and truly against him though, finger spinners in Australia have for the vast majority proven to be simply unsustainable, Tim May I think was probably more talented than Lyon and his wickets came at something like 35, I never saw Ashley Mallett but his figures probably point to him being the best in the last 40 years, even Nathan Hauritz is up there as one of our better offies.

He's the best we have at the moment and deserves to be the number one tweaker but I always have a feeling that at some point the flood gates will open.

I don't understand the selectors. Three weeks ago Quiney was the next best, but since then Hughes and Khawaja have been selected ahead of Bob. Two weeks ago Hazlewood was next in line and now Bird has been picked. I don't necessarily disagree with the selections as their form has been good, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency to selections.

Quiney was a poor selection and he failed with the opportunities he had. Khawaja and Hughes are simply better prospects. Hazelwood was picked more in line with a long term development plan but also got injured that's why he isn't in the mix now. Bird has been in solid form for a couple of seasons and should have been considered earlier.

I can see why some people are confused with it but Quiney didn't grasp his chances and Hazelwood got himself injured.
