I'd be upset with that if I was a captain at State level. At an international level he should be far better than that.
He almost seems to average a fluffed wicket each innings.

Too many Australians are quick to shoot down guys when they are just starting a test career. Even Rod Marsh had the nickname iron gloves.
Needs to put in a lot of hard yards then and it needs to be now.
He has a lot of flaws in his keeping technique, especially to spin, suprised he has got so far without a coach working them out of his game.
He will be fine in England, but will really struggle when he has to journey to the Subcontinent.

Anyone else seeing this interview of Michael Holding at lunch? The way he goes on about Darren Sammy is piss poor, yeah he's not the most talented but he's gelled the Windies better than any of their recent 'captains'

Until you pointed it out the other day it snuck up on me how many low scores he has had in between good innings. Hard to argue that its not a massively important innings for him. Even more so given quite a few rivals will get exposure in the ODI series.

But he is talking about his abilities as a bowler, not a captain and he is right. Very very average bowler.

He's moved up to 7 and isn't being played as the third seamer anymore, West Indies play the 5 bowlers so what Holding was saying simply isn't true. He talked about Roach and Rampaul (both are injured) and Jerome Taylor who hasn't played a first class game in 20 months (doesn't stop him going over to Bangladesh to play domestic T20 though). I have huge respect for what Sammy has done and Holding has bashed him in the past, he's certainly brought improved performance on the Gayle era.

So did the 5 bowlers, 5 batsman and one wicket keeper experiment work? Would the result have been different with 6, 4 and 1?

is this something that we will try in India?

Won't happen in India I'd have thought, need to strengthen that batting especially without Huss. Selection will be interesting for India, Patto looks like being fit and should he back in, capable of doing a similar job that Kasporwicz used to do over there. Siddle is an automatic selection and even though Bird has been brilliant he won't be particularly suited to Indian conditions, perhaps Starc might be more valuable getting a bit of reverse and Johnson has a pretty good record over there.

I think most fielders are average against those two.
Ponting's the best I've seen in an Australian team, with Hussey also brilliant.
Going to be missed that is for sure.

Not for mine. Johnson didn't really know his role.
He went from a free wheeling bowler who bats a bit to an all rounder batting differently.
Clarke should have batted( a mistake he admitted) another 50 runs would have been interesting.
