    Aussies Overseas

Just a bit of a thread where we can post how the Aussie boys are going in overseas leagues, whether that's the County comp or IPL.

In terms of the County comp which has just kicked off we have:

Shaun Tait (T20) and Rob Quiney (first half of season) at Essex

Dirk Nannes (T20), Michael Hogan (permanent) and Marcus North at Glamorgan

    Klinger at Gloucestershire as captain

    Bailey at Hampshire

    Katich at Lancashire

Voges (T20) and Rogers at Middlesex

Copeland (first half of season) and White (T20) at Northamptonshire

Cowan (first half of season) and D Hussey (second half of season) at Nottinghamshire

Ponting as cover for Graeme Smith during June and July at Surrey

Hastings (T20) and Magoffin at Sussex

Burns at Leicestershire on a Brit passport.

Aussie players are littered throughout the IPL:
Chennai Super Kings: Ben Hilfenhaus, Michael Hussey, Ben Laughlin, Dirk Nannes,

    Delhi Daredevils: David Warner

Kings XI Punjab: Adam Gilchrist, Ryan Harris, David Hussey, Shaun Marsh, Luke Pomersbach

Kolkata Knight Riders: Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, James Pattinson

Mumbai Indians: Aiden Blizzard, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Phil Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Ricky Ponting

Pune Warriors: Michael Clarke, Mitchell Marsh, Kane Richardson

Rajasthan Royals: James Faulkner, Brad Hodge, Brad Hogg, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Dan Christian, Moises Henriques, Andrew McDonald

Haven't been following the IPL. But the old fella seemed to take a fairly decent catch the other day. Anyone see it?

Was a ripper, has been struggling with the bat though, an average of 12 and strike rate of 72 so far in the IPL.

Mitch Johnson was the best of the bowlers overnight with 3/30 for Mumbai, Mitch Marsh also made 38 off 26 balls before Johnson had him caught in the deep. The rest of the Aussies struggled, Finch was bowled for a globe, Ponting struggled to 14, Dan Christian made just 4 and M Hussey only 6

In England Magoffin continued his great form from last year picking up 5 second innings wickets and 7 for the match, Phil Jacques also hit a second innings half century, Ed Cowan hit a first innings half ton against Chris Rogers' Middlesex, Rogers looked in fine nick hitting two half tons, his second innings 50 guiding the chase home. Simon Katich showed what we were all still missing combining with Ashwell Prince in a big partnership to hit 84 himself. Klinger and Quiney both missed out in what were big totals for their sides

        Few Aussies in action overnight:
M Hussey smashed a quickfire 65* to lead Chennai to 169, in reply David Warner struggled to be out for only 1. Former West Aussie Michael Hogan led the charge for Glamorgan with 4/33 as they rolled Wostershire, teammate Marcus North made 48 in the reply. Chris Rogers struggled with only 16 as did Rob Quiney who could only make 25 before being dismissed LBW. Trent Copeland was the final man in action picking up 1/40 opening the bowling for Northampton

You missed George Bailey with 93 for Hampshire after coming to the crease at 2down without a run.

Some good results in the IPL overnight, Shane Watson hit the first ton of the IPL with 101, Mike Hussey responded with a quickfire 88 from 51 and James Faulkner was the best bowler on show taking 3/20 from his 4

              Interesting reading the stats there.

CSK were 109/1 after 12 overs.

Faulkner bowled 3 of the last 8 and his overs netted 4/14

4 separate bowlers for the other 5 overs and netted 0/63

On face value a great effort from Faulkner.

Couple of good results, Klinger and Rogers both hit tons while Copeland picked up 10 wickets. Shane Watson is also in good touch recently with scores of 101 and 98* recently in the IPL

A double ton for Australian born Sam Robson overnight who is continuing his break-out year. He has never played first class cricket here and moved to England when he was 18 (although he played Aus Under-19's), he's now 23 and has amassed 3035 first class runs at 39. Unfortunately he's all but committed himself to English cricket.

Trent Copeland is taking wickets for fun in England, loves the conditions. Is the highest rated player in their overall rankings. Has 33 wickets in 5 first class fixtures and 4 one dayers. Ponting has also flown in to play for Surrey and should get his first hit at some point tomorrow

Ponting was asked the other day " if the selectors asked him to play in the ashes would he come out of retirement" , and he said "you never say never", but doubted they would.

He actually went back on that the next day in an interview with Sky Sports and said he hadn't answered the question the way he would have liked and there was absolutely no chance he would be playing Ashes cricket
