Agree stongly. The last thing we need is someone who will continue to let the lunatics run the asylum-that's a large part of why Australian cricket is in the mess it's in at the moment. I hope I'm wrong and Lehmann is the right man for the job though.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

      Micky Arthur sacked.

Adding Steve Smith to the Ashes tour party was the final straw.

He is the only young middle order bat who has shown both the willingness to scrap it out in India and scored runs on the A tour. Who would you have gone with?

Easy Lemmon! Just having a laugh due to the timing of the news coming out so close together.

Its a good question. We're not exactly being bowled over with middle order batting options.

Argus review falling to bits, will be interesting to see how this works...Ponting wasn't a selector either but general consensus is he got what he wanted.

So Clarke is removed for more Inverariy magic.

How do we know who championed what selections though?

When Sutherland going to take some responsibility?
                      We have pampered cricketers now.
Time to have either 20/20 cricketers or 1st class cricketers.

Whilst i thought it was the right decision, gotta feel for Micky Arthur, his mother passing away around the same time as being sacked, poor bugger.

Gotta say I am confused as to why so many people are celebrating the decision.

I don't think he is a great coach but I dont think a coach does much in cricket. Our team is still going to be a bunch of average/not good enough players and Clarke. If our young bowlers can stay fit that will be our strength but our batting is terrible.

Also rotation policy has been scraped.

One good thing that has happened is Clarke not being one of the selectors. He is the captain of the side and shouldn't be commenting on selection issues

Ponting has written an article on the saga, doesn't say much but some interesting points:

"‘Boof’ has had a lot of success as a coach and even though I have never played under him I know exactly what he’ll be like around the Australia team. He will bring calmness to the group, make sure they try to have fun and enjoy the experience of playing for Australia.
Above all, he will instil confidence into the young guys in the team who seem to be lacking it at the moment."

"It was interesting, incidentally, to see that Michael had stepped down as a selector. In my time in charge I pleaded with Cricket Australia for the captain to become a selector, but at that time he wasn’t.
I felt it would have made it easier for me to communicate the thinking behind selections to the players.
I’m not saying I didn’t get the team I wanted as captain — more often than not I did — but I just felt it would have made things better if I had an official say in selection."

"I have always said since my retirement from international cricket that I will always be available to help the Australia cricket team in any way I can. The bottom line for me is that maybe the players had been put under too much pressure by the previous regime and that pressure needs to be released now."

I had heard the vibes about the growing pressure on the Australia coach and the team, and after the run of results they’ve had I could understand that, but I was still surprised that Mickey Arthur’s departure came about so quickly.
