I hope Cricket Australia is super rich!!!

Because no one cares about one dayers India for nothing other than advertising or the NSW one day cup. They've virtually killed all interest I have, I used to look forward to summer but for the first time in my life, I don't think I care about cricket at all under this administration.

Thus, I hope they are all filthy rich because this house of cards based on corporate and advertising money will dry up and collapse once everyone else turns off too.

I think I'll spend the off season on WOOF in threads like best Steven Seagal movie, far more interesting.

Will have a look a bit at the Ashes but really it should be played next summer. They are breaking tradition so they can generate interest in the game. Usually the Ashes is 18 months after not 6.

It gets boring to be honest sitting down for 5 days watching a test match. If its exciting it can be ok but if its not then you just easily switch off.

The finish to the latest ODI v India was pretty damn good. Faulkner went beserk and got us over the line.

But besides flashes like that, short form cricket is pretty meh.

Has our love of cricket been diminished because of our average performances on the field? I suspect that if we were beating the Poms somewhat convincingly this summer then our interest in the game would be vastly greater.

We expected an almost dominate Australia side for such a longer period and I think we now can't watch us take our lumps.

I'm not so sure about that, GVG. I was a cricket tragic for many years but slowly lost enthusiasm during the years when Australia was so dominant and arrogant. Now I find I'm starting to take an interest again. But maybe I'm just peculiar

Needless to say, this applies only to Test cricket, everything else is rubbish. Occasionally I might watch a one day match but 20/20 is a travesty.

For a couple of years I kept saying that T20 cricket will ruin the game and I'm convinced that it has had a significant impact. I can recall guys like Chef (sorry Chef) wanting to watch every form of the game and from memory he might have even frequently tuned into that Beach cricket farce.

Watching the bat dominate the ball in the limited over versions of cricket has been to the detriment of the game and the true cricket lovers.

I still enjoy test cricket and I don't mind the one day game providing it's not just a bat dominated each game but T20 is something I tend to avoid. To me it's not a world game and should just be an income revenue for state cricket.

I agree that T20 has had a detrimental effect on the way the (real) game is played now. The art of defending a wicket has practically disappeared and we see Test matches finishing in a couple of days! I hate it.

Never tuned into beach cricket, but I did enjoy 20twenty to start off with before it turned into an entertainment farce.

I really cant explain what happened but I went from someone who would watch any decent cricket I could to someone who really couldnt care less. Maybe getting Foxtel and the improvement of the A League might have something to do with it.

I beg to differ GVGjr. I reckon cricket has stretched itself too thinly with regard to having 3 completely different formats, and by extension so many meaningless matches in such a variety of formats. There are simply too many trophies, too many tournaments and too few matches of genuine significance.

I was absolutely obsessed with cricket in the mid 80's when Australia was far worse than today. I think we went 2 years without winning a test match, and the tied test in Madras was the spark that kick-started our recovery thereafter. Casual indifference is the attitude I have to cricket today.

That's certainly not the rationale for my disengagement in recent years. Even at out nadir in the mid to late 80's my love of the game was strong. I was always buoyed by the number of quality young talent that was coming through in our domestic cricket. The quality of the domestic competition also meant I keenly kept track of results and performances.

My disenchantment with cricket has coincided with the rise of 20/20 cricket. I see its negative and pervasive influence at all levels of the game. I have always loved test cricket and I see 20/20 as something that is eroding the game from the grassroot level up. Out whole domestic structure used to be about producing test cricketers. Now it seems that ideal has been relegated to a second consideration behind ensuring we cater to 20/20 interests.

As a result I don't even enjoy keeping abreast of Shield cricket because it doesn't seem to produce the numbers of quality young talent as it used to.
