Ok, lets look at it another way. The last 6 ashes first innings he has made, 0, 28, 187, 6, 7, and 1 today. Hardly a great record besides the one big score that helps distort his averages.

As I said, against England only 5/24 centuries. If he is injured, he shouldn't play.
Before that though he was mauling good bowling attacks like the Saffers.
Agree though if he's not fit he shouldn't play.

If you are happy with that good luck because I am not.
And yet still had 2nd most runs in the series..

I am not sure what your point is but mine is he is currently disappointing me and not playing at his best. Yes second most runs off one big innings, but surely you can see he has not helped the team in all the other ashes series test this year.

He has been Broads bunny for the past 6 tests so needs to get over it. We can't have the captain making a 1.

We're going around in circles here guys, time to agree to disagree and move on.

Might not be as doom and gloom for Australia as we thought, those cracks should really open up come the final few days

            Yeah, sorry.

If we can put on another 30 odd today, then its up to the bowlers to try and restrict them to less than say 250 and its game on.

All out 295 which looks very light-on with the pitch looking like a belter. Hopefully Johnson can produce one of those withering venomous spells that he can produce from time to time to get us back into the match.

Well done to Haddin - I'm not a fan but he batted very sensibly and salvaged something from the wreckage.

Ditto but credit where credits due. A gutsy innings.

Cook's lean spell continues - out cheaply having a nibble to Harris (again). Huge wicket in the context of the series - Cook smashed a massive century at the Gabba last Ashes series in Australia and proceeded to bludgeon the attack to all parts for the rest of the Summer.

Johnson massively underwhelming so far. Just flinging them in all directions, but mostly down leg.

Looked like his strategy . Got a gift just before lunch - hopefully that fires him up straight after the break.

Cook and Trott continue their form slumps. Massive session coming up - Australia will be level-pegging if we can snag another 2-3 wickets in the next session.

Sids puts down Pietersen. I'm calling it now in his 100th test he will make us pay

I honestly hope we're not going to have to listen to that *!*!*!*!wit Michael "I refer to myself in the 3rd person" Vaughan all summer. If there's a bloke more deluded about his place in the world I've never seen them. We had to listen to the English cheerleaders all series over the winter, now we have to put up with this prick during the home series.

                            Out for 18.

We really must get Bell, he has been a thorn in our side for years now.
