There's 18 hours (plus overtime when England is in the field), I'd just bat it out to the natural end.

Probably just saw George Baileys test aspirations finish. If you had to choose a series to be a part of this wasn't the worst

Even though we are over 440 ahead, this innings has not really set the world on fire making 276.

I wouldn't be too happy with the innings If you analyse the performance of each of the batsman with the exception of Rogers and Bailey. The rest have all been woeful.

There are still 2 days and nearly two sessions to go.

I am thinking of the future and the upcoming SA tour. The South Africans won't let us off so easily.

Reality is though the batting performance should come as no surprise. It has been well discussed that we are very fragile batting team.

Agreed. Our batting hasn't been tested because our bowlers have won the games. We have two positions up for grab as far as I'm concerned but the selectors will be hard pressed to pull the trigger.

For a long period of time Australian teams in similar match positions to this one seem very prepared to be bowled out rather than exposing the captain and coach to the scrutiny of declarations.

Selections for SA will be very interesting.

I think they will only drop Bailey, but I will wait to see who performs for the rest of the Shield season in regard to a replacement. Hughes may come back in as he wasn't too bad in SA last time.

They will of course take a squad so there are a few that could qualify. I don' think they will take Cam White.

It goes deeper than that our bowlers have won games. Cook's captaincy has been absolutely woeful, particularly when bowling to the Aussie tail-enders. They may not have won the series but 4-0, likely soon to become 5-0, was definitely avoidable.

I wonder if missing the squad for this test was intended as a reminder to Hughes that the selectors are looking for more than just Shield form from him. I suppose the difference with him is that he has been tried and was unsuccessful, the selectors would probably take a fair bit of convincing to hand him another opportunity.

I'm not sure they will be any more Shield fixtures before South Africa, we get over there early February

100 wickets taken by the Aussies in this series. Magnificent performance.
