 Re: Cameron White

 Agreed.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it after 11pm that Clark wanted to get the song going so he could head off? If so, he'd been at it for at least six hours after the game finished.

I'm not sure if I could have stomached drinking with members of the Australian Cricket team for that long.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

 Re: Cameron White

 Back on topic.

It would be my preference to have Bailey out of the side, and Watson move to six. This would mean there's no spot for White.

I don't see the harm in taking him to South Africa though.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

 Re: Cameron White

Im in the same boat, my preference for the batting spot is Doolan, just makes it that much easier considering he is a specialist number 3Comment

 Re: Cameron White

I understand the calls for a verified no. 3 but Doolan is not exactly busting the door down is he? He's what 30 now(?) and has had a few big knocks and handled the South Africans ok a few years ago but still has a sub-par average in First Class cricket. His first class average is under Watson's and he doesn't bowl - at 30 does he have a heap of improvement in him?

As for Clarke I think he would drive most people to violence after a time. Obviously I don't know either one of them but Katich was very well respected by the old guard and seemed to be measured sort of person.

As for Bear I like the idea of taking him to S.A. To me he has always been a pure test cricketer. Hits well and has worked hard on his defence, fields well, catches well, bowls natural leggies but is also a good leader and a thinking cricketer. Surely the test side needs this sort of personality. Brings a large amount of experience too.But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

 Re: Cameron White

As a direct swap for Bailey, White looks a good choice. He at least matches Bailey for leadership and fielding and surpasses him for batting ability in long form cricket. Plus he can bowl a bit.

As a comparison: White v Doolan:
 Age: 30 years 141 days v 28 years 38 days
 FC Batting Average: 40.76 v 37.92
 FC 100s & 50s: 18/40 v 6/18
 FC Batting this Season: 556 @ 50.55 v 422 @ 38.36

Really depends if the selectors are looking for a direct swap for Bailey at 6 or prefer to move Watson down to 6 and bring in Doolan or Hughes at 3.Comment
