    British press after whitewash

What the hell is this supposed to mean? See bolded part.

The final slip catch was taken by Michael Clarke, who has led his team with instinct, skill and innovation to turn around the situation from six months ago when there was even doubt whether he was up to the task of helping regenerate the team.

As the captain took the catch above his head at second slip and flung it high, the players leapt at him and bowler before grouping on the pitch and performing what appeared to be their team song. The surface still looked to be dry afterwards so presumably that is all they did.

I dare say its a reference to the English team urinating on the pitch after their success.

I think it relates to weeing on the pitch

          Ya snooze, ya lose!

I even managed to make my post sound longer and more wanky and still got past you.

Then again, you would have learned to type on a typewriter IIRC...

            Enjoyed this.

From the other end Johnson came charging in to huge celebratory Sunday lunchtime roars from another 40,000 SCG crowd, approaching the wicket with that familiar chest-on galloping approach reminiscent in style of a 1970s TV policeman chasing a perp down a New York alleyway, slacks flapping, magnum unholstered. His sixth ball did for Cook, who hasn't just been scrambled in this series but poached, boiled, whisked and souffléd

Oh, low blow. Get a third hook son!

For the record they were automatic type writers by my time and they were better than the handful of lame computers for charge sheets. But it was just after ash trays were taken away by the sides of them.

                Haha fair enough.

TBH you got out at a good time. The new system replacing the property book is a disaster.

Thanks for that WD. There are some times in my days I really wish I was back (with my 3 hooks though) and then things like this remind me that I should just be happy to be ill health retired. You can have all the corro you want! (But no corro days to actually do it!)

                    How in-gracious is Geoff Boycott?

Only one bowler has been out of the ordinary: Mitchell Johnson. We have beaten ourselves and that is why this has been the tour from hell.

Beaten ourselves? Only one team out their was there? Waffle.

Boycott was moaning after the victory in winter.

To an extent he has a point. Australia has been great but England have just been terrible. Only Stokes and Broad can hold their heads up high for England.

Agree with Boycs. Our bowling has been top shelf but England's batting has not given a yelp and contributed to many of their 100 dismissals over the course of the series. And our top order batting struggled in the 1st innings of every single test - a semi-decent team on their game would have ripped through our tail and won a couple of these tests.

Agree. A false dawn I think. England's inability to sustain any sort of pressure for any of the tests has made our performance look much better. They were unable to follow through when they had our batsmen on the ropes. If not for the batting exploits of Haddin and our tail we could have seen a much more closer series.

I expect us to come crashing back to reality against the South Africans next month. If they have us 5 or 6 down for 100 they wont let us off the hook unlike the Poms.

Funny thing during the 5th test, my wife and I were really disappointed watching the English bats crumble with no resistance. We both agreed would have been more entertaining if there was some competition right to the end but three days and just no fight or spirit in the Poms.
