Yep that's mine too. The Windies had us on toast 5 down for not much and Bevo and stuart Law came together dug us out of a hole with Bevo calmly smashing the ball back over the bowlers head for 4.......proof that One Dayers could be entertaining

At the time, the Sydney game mentioned. But more Retrospective a little, Steve Waugh's knock in the WC and life after being dropped with his now infamous comment.

Michael Bevan was easily the best one day batsmen in the world back then .
Never gets talked about but playing in a Rest of World v Asia game he got 150 in the sub continent .
Should have played more test cricket as well.

It's incredible to fathom how disheveled and a rabble they've become .
Personally I initially enjoyed their demise, but it's been to long now and is very sad.

Yep they have certainly struggled for many years now.

He would have except for his lousy technique against the short pitched ball.

He'd be in the top three wrist spinners in the country if he was around today though

1999 World Cup semi-final between Australia and South Africa for me, for an individual effort Bevo's effort in the Australia Vs West Indies, Sydney Jan 1996 made it a great game.

Maybe not the best win, even though it was pretty good. Ponting showing why he was the best bat to watch when on form:

For me, definitely the 1987 World Cup semi against Pakistan and then the final against England are clearly our two best wins. We came from nowhere to win that one.

Both very, very gutsy wins. The final by 7 runs against an England team who had dominated us for years up to that point. (They wouldn't beat us in a series for 18 years after that tournament.)

We had no chance of winning that tournament and it changed the game in this country and I remember Valetta's efforts trumping the efforts of Khan and Miandad. We played out of our skins.

Paul Reiffel's contribution to that win is often forgotten as well.

Different game, more heroics from Bevan. 2002, Australia Day vs New Zealand. Aussies on the ropes after a top order collapse, Bevan again comes to the rescue, this time supported by Andy Bichel who clubbed the winning runs in the last over.
