This is shocking news. I wish him and his family well and for a full recovery.

They had to induce a coma on the way to the hospital too. Presumably to stop the brain swelling.

Apparently Hughes was on his feet after the incident but then collapsed.

I hope he will be OK.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Saw the footage earlier this evening. Was okay for a few seconds after being hit, then as players started to come up to him to see if he was okay he started losing balance and swaying on his feet. Then just collapsed head first onto the pitch, was horrible to see.

Bloody hell, I hope he pulls through ok. Life has a way cruelty sometimes, and being picked to play a game is really only trivial when life and death is only a fine line. Hopefully hope, best wishes, good thoughts, concern and prayers help.

I'd think it will take another 18 hours before we hear much more. We are all hoping for the best

Thank god the cricket worldhas moved on from "wimps wear helmets" view of the early 80's.

Australian cricketers are continuing to rally around injured batsman Phillip Hughes, who remains in an induced coma in St Vincent's Hospital after being struck on the head by a cricket ball.

Players Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade and Peter Forrest flew to Sydney from interstate on Thursday morning to be by the stricken 25-year-old's bedside.

I hope Abbott has a very close monitor, it was probably the 100,000th bouncer he bowled in his life. I can't imagine what everyone is going through, just misery out of what should've been fun.
