Collapsed face first, CPR was reportedly done on him and he's been airlifted off the SCG in a critical condition. I'm not a believer in God but there's no harm in prayer at times like this.

That's really distressing news. I just hope he's ok.

When I first heard I thought he must not have been wearing a helmet, but it appears that he was and got a top edge.
Terrible incident and thoughts and wishes are with him, his teammates and family.

Phil has had surgery but still in a critical condition. Outcome should be known within 24 to 48 hours.

Wish him a full recovery. Michael Clarke has rushed to the hospital to be with him.

Terrible news to hear that Phil Hughes was struck in the head today and as a result is in a critical condition at the hospital.

                          Re: Phil Hughes injury

To think they had to perform CPR/M2M on him had him on life support prior to arrival at the hospital speaks volumes about how serious this is.

The next 24 hours are so important for him, I hope it goes well.

Did his helmet slip or did the ball get through the grill? Simply awful.

Early reports are just behind the ear as attempting to play a hook or a pull shot.
