Amazing how AfL has cottoned on to roofed stadiums before soccer.
Very rarely do games get called off. Might have something to do with the grass as it's hard enough to grown here in Oz under the roof, imaging somewhere even colder.

I know Stamford Bridge has heating under the grass so snow is never a problem.

But Wembley has a roof it can use doesn't it?
Doesn't fully close but covers all the seating.

Come and play at Emirates for a season or two! Jose would love it there sitting in Arsene's managers seat during nominal home games. He could even borrow one of Wengers puffy jackets.

        Cheers.

Did we ever find out why Stamford Bridge is called Stamford Brodge? I know the battle inside out. About Hadrada and Harold and Tostig and the Viking getting a pike up his clacker, but why is the stadium called Stamford Bridge.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I couldn't imagine Wenger wanting to do José any favours.

                Re: Chelsea's Stamford Bridge

The story is that the Anglo-Saxons virtually ran from London to York to oppose the Viking invasion in York in 1066. The vikings weren't expecting the Saxon king Harold to reach them for a couple more days and were sun baking in the fields when all off a sudden there was a full Saxon army in the field behind them. Their armour and war gear was on all the ships on the other side of the river. Stamford. One huge Berserker stood on the bridge killing any Saxon who came near him while the Vikings who made it across the bridge prepared them selves for war. In the end the only way the Berserker was bought down was when a guy sailed under the bridge and rammed a pike up his fundament, killing him instantly.

The Anglo-Saxons swarmed over the bridge and wiped out all the Vikings. Their King and their entire nobility and virtually all of their warrior class. It was the greatest Anglo/Saxon military success ever.

Or if Arsenal had redeveloped Highbury. Some times I wonder why Highbury had to die but there wasn't enough room to move after the redevelopment in the '80s at the clock end.
