That would be Shane Watson I reckon.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I wonder whether they are thinking about grooming him as a Dan Vettori type who bats 6 or 7 and plays as the second spinner? I have no idea what he has done to jump ahead of Faulkner and Henriques if that's the case.

Maybe it's to make up for not scheduling a test match at the WACA.

Being from Victoria certainly didn't help.

Lyon was a dubious selection at first as well, I think we can all agree he has proven himself a more than handy cricketer. If they see the potential to mould Agar then good luck to him.

Who was Hodge better than? Ponting, Hayden, Langer, Martyn, Clarke, Hussey and Lehman are who I can think of that kept him out. Maybe Katich as well though he wasn't top 5 when Hodge had a chance of playing.

For mine he was the second most talented bat in Australia behind Ponting throughout his career. If I was to choose players in the above I'd have had him in ahead of Martyn and Hussey later in his career, and ahead of Clarke when Clarke was starting out. It didn't work out that way, so be it. Lehman was a guy who should have played more test cricket than he did based on talent and output, but like Hodge it just didn't work out for him.

It also comes down to timing. How well would we be placed if we had two bats like Hodge and Lehman waiting for a test gig right now? Something tells me there'd still be an excuse for them not to get the first nod.
                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Re: Ashton Agar recalled to the test squad

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a spin bowling 'all-rounder' that allows us to play another pace bowler.

We are struggling to find a sixth bat who is anything more than averaging 35 at test level, however our tail is as good as it gets.

My Ashes XI would look something like this...
                  Warner
                  Rogers
                  Burns
                  Smith
                  Clarke/Marsh
                  Nevill
                  O'Keefe/Agar
                  Johnson
                  Harris
                  Pattinson/Starc
                  Hazlewood

                    No Lyon = No Buys

Playing the spinning all-rounder is moot if they can't bowl, we may as well play another bat.
