Of course, but that's what happens across all clubs. Players need to play where they can at the senior level and grind their way to consistent opportunities. It doesn't sound to me as if he was fully committed to that, but perhaps I read too much into it.

He was certainly given plenty of chances with us.

      And a contract extension.

Maybe he thought he was better than some guys getting a gig in the middle. Bad age bracket to lose a player from.

Good on him. I personally am really pleased for Lapinski as I think he was a quality player who couldn't get a look in and consequently was played out of position.

Did a great defensive role on Parish in the second half and cut him out of the game(before injury). Would be handy to have a guy like that playing for us(hopefullyToby can do it again), not that Bevo would do it haha.

                    Re: Following our ex's...................

That just insane we spend years developing a guy and we lose him because he was not good enough to play on the wing , and play him in the vfl in another position

not sure if Lipinski would have made much difference to the games we have played this year

His defensive efforts are poor and he is slow . He would never have made it as a wing man , does not have the running capacity
Ed Langdon was available and we went for Treloar ????

Did we know Ed was available ?

Did we needed another wingman then ?

He was very good as a stopper today.

We did offer him a 3 year deal.

To sign McComb with 0 development at 27 and lose Pat with 5 years or so for pick 43 is absolute rubbish list management.

I stood behind McComb at the Ballan services on Saturday, I'm 6 1 and he's a very slight guy.

Is this actually a serious comment? Who would Collingwood play Lipinski over from the following at the time the trade was made?

                        Bont
                        Smith
                        Dunkley
                        Libba
Treloar (on what we're paying him)

I haven't seen McComb enough to really form a view, but early on I'm not confident he'll be of any value and that selection in isolation should be examined. But there's no need to conflate his recruitment with the fact Lipinski wanted to leave for more opportunity rather than sweat it out on the wing (which is completely fine).

Ha, I'm beginning to think with the coherence of a man who is back on a reasonable sleep schedule and has avoided insanity through having avoided a viewing of Saturday's game!

And what would be the salary difference be? What would McComb be on compared to Lipinski? For someone who is there to play mostly in the VFL, I'd rather McComb and spend the extra cash on someone else.

                                Lewis Young in trouble:

Carlton will challenge Lewis Young’s one-match ban for a front-on hit on Cameron Zurhaar, as the Blues assess the fitness of two key prime movers ahead of the Mother’s Day clash against Adelaide on Sunday.

Young and fellow defender Liam Stocker were offered one-match suspensions for early guilty pleas after a spiteful 50-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday night.

Young was involved in a shoulder-to-shoulder bump which was assessed as forceful front-on contact on hard-working forward Zurhaar in the final term. The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and body contact, but the Blues said on Monday they will challenge the penalty.
