That back line is a bit vulnerable though at times. Fantastic at peeling off and intercepting, but can be scored against when made accountable.
To me Lake is looking like an old man, even though he still has the ability to judge the play and the ball in the air.

Definitely winding down, but still deadly when given space to roam and cut off entries.

Who'd have thought Roughead and Gunston would stink it up and they still kick 17 goals. Fair spread of talent, though Mitchell/Hodge/Lewis/Burgoyne continue to have a massive impact. Once that quartet fades, they will come back to the pack ala Geelong, but FA will see them competitive year in, year out now.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Hawthorn are the one team you don't want kick the ball to and Adelaide did just that.
They played in spurts and still won comfortably .

How on earth in the modern game does one team have consecutive 6 day breaks and the other a fortnight break?
Rediculous contrived money making crap excuse of a fixture

Lot of Tigers fans on Sunbury line tonight ... can't help but acknowledge that even on a line through our heartland that they've got a far bigger fan base than us.... despite the fact that we've outperformed them for 30 years..

The difference is they've had that golden period of the 60's and 70's and the kids have inherited their parents team.

                    Suckers!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Superb win from west coast, which has been underestimated by the Victorian public.
The result flattered Richmond, and they're a bottom of the eight team.
Nic Nat completely dominated , and their mids were given silver service all night.
West Coast midfield is now not so reliant on Priddis and bats deeper.

What's the story with Port at the moment? They are really struggling. Poor decision making in general and are a shadow of their last two years.

Hard to know but it's strange.

I sense there's something internal going on. Seem to have lost their spirit and passion, Cornes retiring/getting pushed was odd timing and quite a few fans are dirty on Hinkley and his coaching.

Huge fall from grace. Perhaps expectations were set too high and it's flattened them rather than spurred them. They haven't had too many injuries outside of Polec. Ryder missed a few and now White, but the bulk of their list has played enough for them to be much better placed.

That is my initial thinking but wondering why when Hinkley has been so highly regarded. That is assuming it has anything to do with this. Who knows.

Maybe it is the expectation to deliver placed on such a young side. They were touted as being premiers by some, especially the local media. For a young team to have this type of pressure placed upon them can really play on their minds. It is a huge barrier for them to overcome. There is no doubt they have the ability.

Maybe Port's game plan is now exposed and teams are counteracting it with their own tactics. Port needs to get the passion back and come up with some new tricks.
