Hawks putting a lot of eggs into this omeara basket

They have managed to offload a big contract and snare Mitchell and O'Meara and piss off Lewis who may also end up leaving.

They have 7 players who will be over 30 next year and 7 who will hit 29 next year. List is shot.

They'll have so many gaps across their lines its not funny but they'll have O'Meara and Mitchell in the middle. Not enough as Geelong showed with Selwood and Dangerfield.

If they lose Hartung as well they'll be worse. Hartung may be a best 20-22 player but he's quick and and will improve. Losing him and Hill means they lose a lot of pace and ripping the heart out of your midfield for next to nothing has to have a detrimental affect on their performances next year.

List is shot but they're ding a good job of keeping refreshing it quickly. Draft well and they won't be down for long, if they do go down. Love them or hate them they know how to build a winning team.

I do hope they fall flat on their face though

Trade: Hawks get picks 10 and 68.

Saints get 2017 first-round pick, and picks 23 and 36 this year.

Could be a big win for the Saints if the Hawks do drop off. Could end up with pick 10-12 odd pretty easily next year

Can someone explain how the Hawks think they can on trade pick 10 to GC for Jaeger after trading next year's first.

I thought there were clear restrictions about trading first rounders 2 years in a row. If that's the case, will the AFEL approve the deal and Hawks will just have to manufacture a first rounder down the track somehow.

If so, seems to go against the spirit of the rule. Not that it would stop the AFEL or the Hawks.

I'm confused.

I reckon the Hawks are knackered. Too old and the only bloke keeping their head above water is gone. They've lost run and bring in a pretty good though one paced footballer. And then there's Vickery just to seal their fate. Think the writing is on the wall and the Saints will cash in next draft.

Beyond Tom Mitchell they have no midfield depth and who knows what Jaeger will throw up.

Don't know why they're not prepared to take a whack for a year or two and regenerate. Swans showed it can be done (albeit with academy help), we took 3-4 years to go from basket case to finalists to premiers.

From the outside, it looks like they've completely de-stabilised the playing group by bringing in big money recruits into a team that has prided itself on taking cuts to stay together.

I think they've become arrogant and I also think while he has credits in the bank Clarko has too much say in list management.

Will be interesting to sit back and see how it goes but the formula they're employing has failed elsewhere.

I believe a club can trade what they want away but after the 2 in 4 breach they will have restrictions
